*** Special Edition*** February 25, 2015 pt 2: Gut Shot

posted in: Bulls | 7

It was like deja vu.  When I got the text message, I didn’t want to believe it.  I started to get a sick feeling in my stomach.  It’s happened again.  Derrick Rose is headed for his 3rd season ending knee surgery.

I already posted my blog for the next day.  I was ahead of schedule.  Maybe I needed to let this news sink in… or, maybe I needed to write this with the pain still fresh.  I needed to get some words down as I sit here in shock….

You know, actually, it hurts a little less each time.  The first injury was brutal.  The Bulls were the #1 seed, starting the playoffs, primed for another showdown with Miami.  He went down in Game 1, and we were done.  The next one was at the beginning of the season in Portland, which is the same injury to the same knee by the way.  Derrick took the route which had the longest recovery time in hopes of the best long term result.  Well, that really didn’t work out.  And now this…  the Bulls with another great shot to win it all, and we will have no Rose.  Three times a charm?

I guess that’s the worst part about it.  Derrick Rose will NEVER be the same player.  His 3rd major knee injury, 2nd same injury to the same knee, may spell the end for him.  Honestly, did we think he’d be the same player he was BEFORE this last injury?  Watching him night in night out, you could tell he wasn’t always going full speed.  He wasn’t flying through the air hammering down big dunks.  I thought, OK, maybe in time.  He’s still ramping up.  He’s got to clear mental hurdles, as well as, physical ones.  So I gave him the benefit of the doubt.  How will that work after he comes back from this injury… IF he comes back from this injury.

It’s really horrible for all parties involved.  With his career hanging in the balance after yet another injury, I can’t imagine what this hometown boy playing for his hometown team is going through; although some people may say he’s got a lot of money to make him feel better.  Then there’s the Bulls… from Thibs to Noah, that have just endured another and maybe final blow for THIS team.  Does this spell the end for Thibs?  What will be done with Noah?  We need to sign Butler now to the max contract, but we still have Rose on the books.  Thinking about the future right now is scary.  Then there’s US, the fans of this Bulls team playing in Chicago.  It just seems like this team is snakebitten… specifically, Rose, but it affects everybody.  Why did this happen again?
If you rest the muscle and allow it time to recover, you will begin to manage the pain that is occurring. https://pdxcommercial.com/property/3214-e-fourth-plain-blvd-vancouver-washington-98661/ viagra online canada One effective medication that has been approved for use best price viagra by the Meals and Drug Administration as an oral prescription to treat erectile dysfunction as well as in older men. It was like a fairy tale story when the Bulls got lucky and got the #1 draft pick where a PG sat from Chicago.  The Bulls would finally have a premier PG, and they did.  The future looked very bright.  Now, three knee injuries later, it looks like the complete opposite.  Even me, mr. silver lining, mr. die hard, mr. you got to have faith is having a hard time putting a good face on right now.  I’m going to force myself to…  I have to force myself to.

The Bulls are in a better situation this time than the previous two times.  I think that’s a fact that everybody can agree on, at least for the remainder of this year.  It’s not like the playoffs, with no time to recover.  It’s not like we don’t have other superstars now with Gasol and Butler.  Honestly, so far, Rose hasn’t been himself this year.  How much has he made the Bulls better THIS season thus far?  Now, Jimmy officially becomes the man with Pau.  Now, maybe the team plays more cohesively.  Now, maybe the Bulls can pull another PG off the trash heap and turn him into gold.  Maybe that PG is already on the roster… Brooks, Moore?  Now maybe, that chip on the Bulls shoulder is bigger than ever.  Now maybe this will propel this team to greatness???  OK, that was my best shot….

Yet, something else I think we can agree upon, is that our best shot to win a title this year was to be 100% healthy… to have ALL of our pieces playing together, completely gelled, playing their best ball at the end of the season, getting max contributions from everyone.  There goes that.  And, we’re not just talking about McDermott here…  Our star has fallen once again, maybe for the final time.

So Chicago mourns this morning… feeling bad for Rose… hoping he somehow comes out of this one OK.  Why did this happen to him again?  Why did this happen to the Bulls?  Yes, Derrick may be the one going through it, and yes, the Bulls will feel the brunt of the pain too, but everyone involved with the Bulls will.  Every fan rooting for Derrick, every fan rooting for the Bulls, is hurting today.  It hurts a little less this time…  a little less each time it’s happened, but that doesn’t mean we feel OK.  The pain is still there.  Chicago took another gut shot late last night…   it’s time to recover again.

Just un-lucky for Rose, can’t fight the INJ bug. I hope he knows this when its contract time. Rose too good a player to dump, but keeping Rose may cost you Butler, who will be commanding big money in the off-season. Do you risk it?

A player like Rose is hard to find but a player like Jimmy, is dam near impossible to find!

Gut shot is right. I could not believe when I saw the news…thought it was a mistake since I heard nothing about an injury. Boy, does drose really have some bad luck. People love and hate him, but how can you deny that he has been bitten hard by the injury bug? As hard as he works…all the time and rehab spent trying to get back to mvp/superstar status, and now this. It has to be disheartening for him. I wish he would show a little more fire…hope he is pissed off and fuming. I dont want to hear the same soft talkin bs. I want that fire because that is how I feel…pissed and upset for him that he got injured again, for the team that had everything needed this year, and for us, the fans, who love the Bulls and want the best. How could this be happening yet again? The basketball gods are playing with us and sending a clear message to drose. I wish him the best with another speedy recovery, but am left imagining what could have been in years past as well as this one. Yes, the Bulls are better off this year, but I think we all know drose was needed to get us over that hump…anything other than that is denial and wishful thinking. GO BULLS!!!

Who CARES!!! This guy don’t even go to practice. The time off will help him prepare for his life after basketball he talks about so publicly. Put him on the bus going out of town with Cutler and Marshall.

Patrick Kane is the real loss of the day.

All the Bulls fans in the city care, that’s who. Don’t bunch him with crybaby Cutler and crazy Marshall. The kid has been hit with injuries… not sure how you can control that, unless you know of a way? He’s been humble his whole career and played hard; he made one stupid statement, that all the haters want to hang on to. It was a BS statement; that hasn’t been the norm for him in his career with the Bulls. He may actually be back this year too, although I’ll believe that when I see it.

Not a hater. Facts! He said all those things and set himself up for disaster. Now he don’t go to practice.

Injuries are uncontrollable. Rose definitely played hard and that can be a contributor, but not always. It can happen to anybody regardless of your condition. His body has failed him and that part is a shame. I’m sure Bulls management screwed him up even more. The repair surgery he had originally usually fails, and it did. Cartilage rarely heals itself, especially a meniscus. If they remove the damage; in 6 weeks your at 80% and ready to play. 6 months and your at 100%. I had the surgery and it only took 6 weeks to to be medically released to play. I don’t make millions or get constant 24/7 care for my injuries. Its not that bad an injury and not major. ACL, MCL, LCL, now your talking major. Now he’s going to have the surgery that should have taken place in the 1st place 2 years ago.

I can’t argue with you on the surgery choice. If he did this from the get go, after that first meniscus injury, he would have played that year, and we wouldn’t have had to deal with this one. It’s easy looking back though…
