September 3, 2017: Bears Year 1 AC

posted in: Bears | 1

Here we sit, a week from Bears football.  Here we go with another season preview: some game by game predicted result fun.  And although the Bears are pissing me off by not starting Trubisky, I have to remember that anything is better than what we had.  Thus, the title of the season preview blog; it’s Bears Year 1 AC.

Week 1 vs Falcons:  WIN, and let me tell you why.  The defense for starters, but more importantly the Falcons coming off a heartbreaking super bowl loss will come out and fall flat in this one where everybody expects them to kick ass and take names.  They will for most of the season, but not in this one.  Yes, and Glennon will play average (get used to it), and because of the W, the chants for Mitch will subside for the moment.

Week 2 at Bucs:  LOSS.  In Glennon’s return to his ex-team, he puts up a horrific performance.  The defense falls flat one week after their impressive debut.  The game gets ugly, and we’re all brought back down to earth after the week 1 upset.

Week 3 vs Steelers:  LOSS.  This one doesn’t get much better, and it’s in front of the home crowd.  Glennon starts slow, but actually brings the Bears back in this one, but it’s not enough.  The defense gives up a couple big plays that ruin the otherwise decent performance.

Week 4 at Packers:  LOSS.  This will be the game that we will look back at.  We will actually be OK accepting this loss, because this will be the last game Glennon will start.  He is pedestrian again, and that isn’t enough against Rodgers and company.  The game is close, but a late turnover by Cut…I mean, Glennon will hand the Bears another loss vs the Pack, which brings us to an early crossroads.  To Mitch or not to Mitch.

Week 5 vs Vikings:  WIN. What better way to introduce the number two pick in the draft, our franchise QB, to the world then by starting him in his first game at home on Monday Night Football.  Yep.  Clear your calendars now.  I’m smiling just thinking about it.  Then I remember how bad I am at predicting the Bears future.  A guy can be right once can’t he???

Week 6 at Ravens:  WIN. First road game for Mitch, first win for Mitch.  The future is now.  The sky is the limit.  Bear Down mother f’ers!!!

Week 7 vs Panthers:  LOSS. Pump those brakes. Mitch is human.  All that momentum and rookie of the year hype can stop for a week.  He has his worst game, and Glennon is seen smirking on the sidelines.

Week 8 at Saints:  WIN.  And we’re back…  Rookie of the year baby!

Week 9:  Bye Week

At 4-4, we are as excited as if the team was undefeated.  To get through the brutal part of the schedule at 500…to have our franchise QB starting and looking the part…and oh yeah, the defense hasn’t been half bad.  Nobody could keep us from believing that once the second half is over, the Bears will be making their return to the playoffs.  And oh yeah, the Cubs just repeated!!!!  What could possibly go wrong in the second half?  We are golden.  Going to have to end this now, and pick it up in tomorrow’s blog.  Bear Down!

    Bears 1 AC…I like it!

As for the Bears first 8 games this year, here I go…

week 1 vs atl–just cant see beating this team even though the pats just went down to the chiefs to open the year. Think atl is going to be focused and has too many weapons on offense for the Bears to keep up. L
week 2 at tb–glennon returns to tampa and puts it on the bucs. W
week 3 vs pit–pit is usually a 2nd half team so the Bears take advantage and get their first home W of 2017. W
week 4 at gb–the cheese still SUCKS. L
week 5 vs min–I like your thinking, but I am going to take it a little further and say that glennon starts this game but will not finish it…a la a certain punky qb in 85 on Monday night in minny. Welcome to the nfl MTru. W
week 6 at bal–think baltimore is going to be pretty good this year and hands MTru his first road loss. L
week 7 vs car–home cooking for the Bears and MTru as well as knocking cam out for the season. W
    week 8 at no–not happening…Bears finish 4-4. L

4-4 midway through 2017 with MTru now at the helm. Where will this season end up? Stay tuned…

    BEAR DOWN!!!
