We’re back in business. The Bears won an important one on Sunday at Soldier Field, defeating the Los Angeles Rams 24-18. And remember, good teams win, great teams cover… haha.
I didn’t get to zone in too much on this one; my nephew had a birthday party at Slugger’s. Yeah, it was fun, but definitely didn’t get to stare at the TV to watch every second of the Bears game like I have the last few weeks. So what did I miss? Looks like the Bears actually figured out how to run the ball a little bit, and provide some much needed balance for the offense. Of course, this was the week I moved Swift to my bench in fantasy… it’s all good. 93 yards on the ground from D’Andre? Nice! Who would have thought? Ramming it down the Rams throat… haha. Swift wasn’t done either. He hauled in 7 receptions for 72 more yards from scrimmage. If there was an MVP for this game, it would be him; although I did see some punt highlights too. Nothing better than seeing a good punt highlight right? Wrong! Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice and all, but how about not punting to begin with? That’d be better. However, since that will never be our reality, it does pay to have a good punter, which is why we drafted Tory Taylor high this year. 55.4 average on 5 punts, 3 of which landed inside the 20… not too shabby.
Our boy Caleb… certainly nowhere near those 300 yards passing from last week; that’s a good thing though. Only 23 passing attempts this week feels more right than the 52 attempts last week. Somewhere in between is probably the magic number… 30-35? Whatever it takes to get the W I say. If the running game is working, keep doing it. Force them to stop it, before doing something else. It always feels like OCs can’t wait to get away from the running game, and show off how much they know in the passing game; it’s not just a Bears thing. Although, this year has certainly been a bit of a comeback for the running game, at least so far, across the league.
Look, the Rams are nowhere near the team they were last year, let alone earlier this season. They’re down their top 2 WRs and half their damn OL, plus a retired Donald on defense. We did what we had to do. We beat a team we were supposed to beat. We defended our home turf too, which to my surprise, is the 7th time in a row at home… most in the league.. no shit. That’s crazy, although, important if the Bears want to take the next step. Start off taking care of business at home; 2 for 2 this year. Yet, all this good mojo will go right out the window if the Bears don’t make it 3 for 3 next week against the crappy Panthers. Ah yes, the Andy Dalton revenge game… haha.
OK, let’s enjoy this W. Congrats boys, and thank you. Thank you for helping make this week start off better than last week. Bear Down!!!
