September 27, 2019: Week 4 Preview Vikings at Bears

posted in: Bears | 0

Could it be that the opening night loss to the Packers was the best thing that could have happened to the Bears?  Too early to say for sure this year, but it worked out pretty well last season… until that kick and all.  But the national public and media saw all they needed to, or cared to see from the Bears in that game.  Great defense, horrible offense, next… it’s not to say these last 2 games have changed this perception that much, but it feels kind of good to be flying under the radar again on the national level, if that’s even possible.  Papa Vegas is taking his cues from them…

Bears started off as a 3 point favorite in this one, and just like last week when we opened as a 6.5 favorite one the road in DC, the money has come rolling in on the opposition. That’s a good thing by the way; papa knows what he’s doing. Cleaned up on the Bears on MNF; about to clean up on Sunday afternoon. That’s just the Vegas angle.

Was talking to one of my guys today, and he said there are 3 keys to the game. Stop the run. The Vikings RB has been good; the Bears run D has been good. Something has to give. If it tilts our way, and we put the ball in Cousins hands, I like our chances. I agree. Secondly, keep our defense fresh. Everybody gets tired; as defenses get tired, even our super defense, their performance suffers. Keep the Vikes to some 3 and outs, and then let the offense help. That time of possession becomes critical here. Get some long drives, points or no points, hold the ball, and flip the field. We do that, we’ll be good. Two for two. His final point was let Trubisky be Trubisky. I’ve mentioned this in some of my past posts. It looks like they’re trying to keep him in the pocket. Although that’s not a horrible idea, his elusiveness and subsequent scrambling ability is one of his strengths. Play to those, and we’ll see a Mitch we can all believe in.

This guy nailed it. Everybody has an opinion on our Bears, some are more right than others.

Final Score Prediction: Bears 27 Vikings 16

Ace in the Hole: Bears D- bending not breaking, sacking Cousins, and getting TOs…and another TD.

The Vikings don’t impress me. Their defense will be looking to match ours; it won’t happen. At home, in a division game, the Bears show us who we thought they were; for real this time. Tie for first place in the division will be the result. Bear Down!
