Ah yes, another Victory Monday after the Bears beat the Texans 23-20. We just talked about how everyone should be happy about this; let’s talk about how we got this ugly win.
Roquan Smith. Can we pay this man his money? I know he didn’t have the greatest game in Lambeau the other night; he still had 11 tackles, 2 more than the season opener vs the Niners. Well, how about 16 tackles, and the game clinching pick against Houston? The guy was everywhere, no? This is what we’re used to seeing from Roquan, the guy that roams the middle of the defense, from sideline to sideline with serious speed, delivering big hits when he gets to the ball carrier. I’m not sure what else, or who else we are looking for to patrol the middle of our D. He’s 25 years old; I seriously hope the rebuilding path the Bears are on doesn’t take us past his prime. He’s coming into the best years of his career; he needs to be here. He WANTS to be here. Lock him up and forget about it. All that cap space… I know we need offensive weapon help, but… if there is one guy on this team, other than Fields, that we shouldn’t have to worry about, it’s Roquan. Sign him, now! Or, watch him play his ass off this year in his contract year, see his value go through the roof, and have him give us the middle finger when we try to lowball him… Your call guys; don’t be stupid.
Lovie Smith. Dude looks like he’s about 1,000 years old with that white beard; either that, or he’s about to take off to the North Pole to perform his holiday duties. The Texans played hard; they played solid defense… or was it our crappy offense? We did run for more yards on the ground than we have since… did they say 1984? Holy shit! Yet, Lovie is saddled with another mediocre QB; you think Fields played bad… geez. Just remember, it could always be worse. Yet maybe the thing that made me smile the most in this game, other than seeing Roquan pick that ball late, before Cairo sent it through the uprights giving us the W, was seeing Lovie challenge a play… and lose. I wish I had the numbers handy, but losing challenges was one of the things Lovie did best as our head coach. I’m glad to see some things don’t change. That was hilarious… The Texans will win some games this year, but not this one… nope, no sir-ee buddy.
Yep, the Bears emerged from this battle with a 3 point victory. Lot more work to do; the Bears & Fields need to be better, but.. 2-1 baby! How you like them apples? I like them just fine, thank you very much. Up next: the G-men. Do the Bears dare go to 3-1 on the season? I’m sure we’re probably already being tagged as the worse 2-1 team in the NFL. Who cares? I don’t. Keep winning, however ugly it is; I don’t care. Hopefully 1 day we’ll be tagged the worst team to ever win a Super Bowl… haha. OK, pumping the brakes, but for now and always… Bear Down!!!
