September 26, 2021: Saving the Stress

posted in: Bears | 0

So I didn’t watch the Bears game on Sunday… My son’s baseball game started at the same exact time. I was checking my phone for updates throughout the afternoon; they weren’t good. By the time we got into the car to drive home, Joniak and Thayer sounded dejected. I browsed Twitter… lots of talking crap about Nagy’s play calling, the offensive line, specifically the guy we called out of retirement, and some more great tackling by Eddie. I saw the box score… all of the sacks, all of the rushing yards allowed. I said to myself, I’ve got to see this for myself. Of course, I had recorded the game, and was planning on watching it on Sunday night… then I thought better of it…

My dad recorded and watched it in 90 minutes; he said the kid didn’t have a chance. My father in law told me he had to turn it off; he said I’d be a glutton for punishment if I watched that game… I am though, so… My brother told me it wasn’t worth it; my brother in law said save myself the ulcer. So, I listened to them… I said screw it; I’m going to save myself the stress of watching this shit show that was the Bears game on Sunday. I’m not going to watch it. Why would I subject myself to that kind of punishment? Isn’t there enough going on as it is?

We knew if this happened how we would react anyways, right? We’re not going to dump on Fields… not yet. If he was not successful, the person we were going to blame was Nagy, right or wrong; from the sounds of it, and from what we have seen in the past, sounds like we’re correct. I read that we didn’t roll Fields out of the pocket one time all day; is that true? Even after all the sacks? If that is true, there is really no excuse for it. I understand we want to get him used to passing in the pocket, but if that’s not working… just keep banging our heads against the wall? There’ll be a time and place for that, but to get the win on Sunday, adjustments needed to be made; it sounds like that didn’t happen. Making adjustments to your game plan each and every week is critical. I feel like the Bears don’t do that well; I don’t think Nagy is the only one that had this problem… Anyways, we knew we’d let Nagy have it; no way were we going to throw Fields under the bus. We’re going to protect him, give him excuses, as long as we need to… until he becomes that franchise QB we need, because he WILL be that guy, one way or another, no matter what… haha. My hope for Fields certainly will not be dashed by one game, no matter how bad it was.

As far as the guy we called off his fishing boat to play the offensive line… whose fault is that? Well, I guess it’s the guy that should have left the organization with Trubisky. Yeah, not putting enough talent on the field in a critical position is on Ryan Pace, correct? And then what about Eddie? How long will we let this guy hurt us? I only saw the one missed tackle; I heard there were others… It’s not surprising. We’ve seen this movie before. Who will hold him accountable? Back to Nagy right? Or the new DC?

Yeah, it’s blame game time after a horrific loss; plenty to go around. I didn’t need to see the game to understand this. There are people on the ledge already, ready to wave the white flag for the season because of this ugly, ugly game; I’m not. Just remember: we play Detroit next week.
