September 24, 2016: Sad News

Waking up this Sunday morning, looking to write my post for yesterday, I was thinking of what to write.  Some news I read made it an easy decision.

I was thinking about starting up my ATS feature. Looking at the lines in the newspaper, I had some thoughts of course. I probably would have done crappy.  There is of course that Bears game coming up Sunday night. I could have wrote about that.  Didn’t really want to, but could have.

And then there’s the Cubs. I could do a blog everyday about them.  Especially now, with the playoffs approaching, a weekend series with the Cardinals in progress, that’s an easy, go to post. Maybe that’s what I’ll do.

Then I sat down in my office and pulled up Twitter on my phone.  I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Jose Fernandez had died. I was shocked.

It’s not like it’s a Cubs player, or anybody Chicago related.  Still, I do like other players in the league. I especially like pitchers, since that’s what I did during my hey day. I have liked many pitchers over the years. I liked Jose Fernandez.

A young fire baller with attitude, he had an awesome rookie year. I know, he was on my fantasy team. Then he got hurt, like many of the young pitchers today.  Tommy John was the prognosis. He missed a bunch of time. He came back late last year, and I took notice. When draft time rolled around this year, I snatched him back up. He didn’t disappoint.

He was especially lights out at home. He rarely lost, had double digit strikeout games, was flat out dominant. And he was still only 24!  This guy had the world in his hands. Man would he have looked great in a Cubs uniform.
Massage and gentle self-stretching of the neck and some time headache may also occurs during these levitra samples types of injuries. The dominance of the above-mentioned factors leads to the problem of impotence or erectile dysfunction generic price viagra in many men. Premature ejaculation is the essence of ejaculation lack http://respitecaresa.org/bid-on-childrens-art-to-help/ levitra sale of reasonable discretionary control, that is, once the man attains the orgasm. Basically a person tends to face erectile dysfunction by picking up a conversation at work or health club, with friends, viagra on line or they may be unable to experience erection at all.
He had a personality too. He talked trash. He seemed to have a ton of fun. Here was a guy who had it all, destined to be a perennial all star…an all timer, and now, like that, he’s gone.

Life is funny. Here today, gone tomorrow. You can’t take this thing for granted. You should enjoy every moment.  You never know when you will have your last moment.

That’s all we read about. All the shootings, the killings…that’s what grabs the headlines. Yet, there are so many deaths every day, natural, accidental, suicide…people are dying every day. Each life is precious and each will be missed.

I can’t think of another superstar who died like this. I think of Thurman Munson, Roberto Clemente.  I remember that one pitcher from St. Louis. I’m trying to think of other superstar athletes who have gone way before their time.  I’m sure I’m forgetting somebody.

Just shocked right now. So young, so talented, his whole life in front of him. Sad, sad news this morning.

Lesson for everybody still around to read this: don’t take life for granted. Spend time with your family. Promote love not hate. We only have a short time on this earth; we don’t know how short.  Until next time. RIP Jose Fernandez.

Only 24 years old…such a tragedy. Cant believe what his record was at home for the marlins in his career…29-2! That is pretty damn impressive and will be missed. Accidents definitely do and can happen at any time. Life is precious.
