OK, here we go. I didn’t sweat the Bears loss at Houston this past Sunday night at all, really. We weren’t expected to win, yet… we were one play away from actually winning that game… and we played like shit. That doesn’t really mean a whole hell of a lot at the end of the day; a loss is a loss, and the Bears sit at 1-1. The reason I’m not panicking one bit about our first loss of the season, is because I’m looking forward to getting back on track this Sunday against the Colts in Indianapolis. If we don’t do that, well… maybe I’ll panic.
The Colts are small favorites, the smallest of favorites. The whole world saw how bad the Bears looked on Sunday night, but… did they look worse than the Colts did against the Packers? You do know that Malik Willis started for the Packers this past week? You know they ran the ball over and over and over and the Colts couldn’t do crap about it, right? The Colts looked worse than the Bears, but because the Bears were on national TV, and because we have the #1 overall QB, we’ll get more attention for our poor play. I certainly expect the Colts to put up a better effort against us this Sunday; I expect the same from the Bears. It’s still early in the season; I don’t think the defense is tired of carrying our asses just yet. We should hold the Colts under 20 points, which means we don’t need THAT much from the offense to win this game. We’ll get some though, and yes, I do believe this is the week where Caleb gets his first TD.
Looking at the stats cannot tell you the whole story; remember, the sample size is really small… 2 games. Sure, we have a better idea of who is who than 2 weeks ago, but do we really know yet? I think between the next 2 weeks, we’ll really be able to tell which teams are going to be OK, and which ones will suck. I think the Bears will be better than the Colts for the season; I think the Bears will be better than the Colts on this day. I’m not overthinking this one; you shouldn’t either. The Bears will get it done.
Final Score Prediction: Bears 24 Colts 16
Ace in the Hole: Caleb Williams 2 TD passes (I’m going to keep picking him every week until he actually is the MVP of the game)
Yes, I know the Colts running defense is susceptible, and yes, I know they have a big player out on the line, but I still think the Bears will be able to pass the ball successfully. Keenan Allen may be out, but DJ and Rome… and how about Kmet (he is still on the team right?) should have good games. Caleb will calm some people down, and turn in his best game of the year; that’s not hard to do. No turnovers; don’t take stupid sacks. Let’s get back on track boys. Bear Down!
