September 20, 2019: Week 3 Bears at Redskins Preview

posted in: Bears | 3

Will Monday night be the week the Bears finally kick some ass?  After two lackluster performances on offense, the Bears sit at 1-1; our defense has played well enough for us to be 2-0.  Let me tell you what I would like to see on MNF in DC.

The offense go off.  Trubisky 200+ yards & 2 TDs would do the trick, plus a couple rushing TDs from Montgomery and Cohen.  28 points… that’s what I’d like to see.  What kind of performance would it take from Mitch to shut up all the haters for a week?  Would another ugly win like last week in Denver do the trick?  Probably not, although if there is one position in sports that should be judged on wins and losses more than any other, it should be the QB.  We don’t need Mitch to be Mahomes, or Watson for that matter.  We need Mitch to be the best Mitch he can be.  And if that is an above average QB, than that should be enough for THIS team.  He doesn’t need to throw 400 yards and 4 TDs per game.  You ever notice how wide open the Chiefs WRs are by the way?  Why aren’t Bears guys running around in the secondary like that?  We need Mitch to protect the ball and to make smart decisions.  I’d like to see him use his legs a bit more.  Looks like he’s focusing on staying in the pocket, which isn’t a bad thing necessarily, but his elusiveness in the pocket, and subsequent scrambling at times was one of his strengths.  He seems to be less mobile thus far; maybe that’s by design.  But back to Mitch being the best Mitch he can be… maybe that’s not your prototypical pocket passer.  Maybe we need to him to scramble, we need to put him on the move in this offense for it to be most successful.  Maybe Nagy already knows that, and is just trying other stuff?  That’s what I think half the time.  Or maybe Mitch isn’t the guy; half of us already think that.  I’ll say it again; we’ll know by the end of this season if he is or isn’t the guy.  Until then, let’s win some games.  As long as we’re doing that, let’s turn down the flame on his seat.

OK this wasn’t supposed to be a Trubisky defense… sounds like a chess opening.  This was supposed to be about how the Bears are going to kick the Redskins ass on Monday night.  Of course I also want to see the defense turn in another strong effort.  You can’t take anybody for granted in this league, especially on the road.  The second you do, bad things could happen; see Miami last year.  It would be nice to see some turnovers on defense, setting up our offense in favorable field position to help them achieve that 28 point mark.  Sure, let’s see Eddy make another field goal too while we’re at it.

Haters stay away for a week; we know you’ll be back.  Need to stack up these wins boys, especially the ones we should win.  Bear Down!

Looks like you get what you wanted. I’m going in and out of offices and everytime I see the game we have more points.
