It takes time… to get over stuff sometimes… like the Bears losing to the Packers in Week 1. Need time to lick my wounds; time to breathe a bit, mentally recover, move forward. It wasn’t only that. I went 0-3 in my Fantasy Football leagues; I got killed on Week 1 bets in the NFL. Sometimes, this is the way…
You get so hyped up for the start of the NFL season, especially a season where hopes are high for our Bears. Everything is better when the Bears are doing well. Sometimes when they’re not, it gets tough to stay into the NFL all the way to the end, especially when the teams that are doing well are teams that I dislike, although I guess that’s another reason to watch… to root against those teams. But in Week 1, everybody is undefeated; hope is at an all time high. Then BAM… get smacked down… face plant… it’s a long way down from those high expectations. Yet, it IS only Week 1; 16 more games to go… plenty of time for more pain.
Starting off with 3 losses across the board in Fantasy Football isn’t so bad; I’ve had slow starts before. My teams usually rebound to do well. In the one league, where I went with Travis Kelce with my first pick… that went well. Funny thing about that was that I still picked Mark Andrews; if you were following, he missed Week 1 too. So with the 2 best TEs in the NFL, I had to go to the wire immediately in Week 1 to fill that TE spot; that’s the way it goes sometimes… Surely that won’t happen again, right?
Then there was the betting side of things. I usually do well in the preseason; this year was no different. I usually do horrible in Week 1; this year was no different. Yeah, I had a little on the Bears… not much thankfully. Washington didn’t cover; the Steelers got their heads bashed in. The Bengals were the Bungles, and the Bills on MNF… well, let’s just say Papa Vegas took full control of that game once Aaron went down. All in all, I’m just happy to be done with Week 1.
This brings us to Week 2; surely things can’t get any worse. The only thing that could happen that would be worse for the Bears would be if Fields got injured; not even another loss, this time to the Bucs, would be worse than what has already transpired. Sure, I can go 0-3 again in my FFLs, but not likely. Having another bad day with the bets? Well, those will happen, that much I can guarantee. It’s all about keeping it moving. None of this can hold me down… at least not for long.
So yeah, let’s finish this one, and close the book on Week 1 of the NFL season; 3 days isn’t too long to recover, right? What’s next?
