September 13, 2022: Other QBs

posted in: Bears | 0

I’m excited to see how Justin Fields progresses as QB of our Bears. He has a way to go, no doubt, but you cannot deny that he makes plays; his athleticism cannot be questioned. Will he be the franchise guy? Time will tell. Certainly expect him to take a big step forward this year; one game down… many, many to go. Yet, I still see folks talking about other QBs…

For starters, let’s talk about Mitch Trubisky. Honestly, I don’t care what he does; if he does well, great. If he sucks, whatever. He won his first game as a starter in Pittsburgh, and people are talking it up. When I talked to some folks about the Bears game on Monday, they followed that up saying “Did you see what Mitch did?” If you take a closer look and/or watched any of the game, maybe folks should just pump the brakes. Look, was Mitch hindered by Matt Nagy here in Chicago as many have said? Sure. How much? I don’t think it was that much. We’ll see. Glad he’s getting another chance and all, but… I watched enough of Mitch at QB, and you can’t blame Nagy for the overthrows, right? Mitch should be able to make a great NFL career out of being a backup QB, but a starter? Good luck to the Steelers with that, and seriously, I don’t even care… unless of course we play them.

The other QB that’s always talked about is Aaron Rodgers. Well, if the Bears win was the main course on Sunday, which it was, seeing “our owner” and his “other team” fail… that dessert was delicious. I wasn’t sitting on the game by any means, but when I tuned in for about 10 minutes, and I saw Aaron Rodgers get sacked twice… mmm, mmm, good. Of course, I saw the highlight of the WR dropping the wide open pass, and then when his ex-teammate flattened him on a block… chef’s kiss man, chef’s kiss. And now, we get to see him live and in person this Sunday night in Green Bay. Unfortunately, that usually hasn’t meant good things for us. And with the Packers losing their first game, it just makes it feel like more of an uphill climb; the Packers usually bounce back with their future Hall of Fame QB. And since he loves beating us so much, we must be in trouble.. right?

Well, Vegas is telling us 9.5 points, which sounds about right. Although if you look at the San Fran game, they were favored by 7 on the road… so if you factor in home field advantage, the Niners were really favored by 10 points. If you factor in the Lambeau home field advantage (which should be a lot more than 3 due to the refs who are part owners of the club) the Packers are only favored by 6.5, so… The Niners are better than the Packers right? Speaking of other QBs, I think Trey Lance will be just fine. Sure, he struggled a bit, but on the road, in those conditions, against a motivated defense… I think he’ll be good. The Niners should go ahead and pull the trigger on that Jimmy G to Dallas trade and get some draft picks… haha.

It’s nice to actually have a QB on our team that has some serious promise. Yes, they ALL have had “promise” at one time or another, but this time… haha. OK, I’ll stop there. Morale of the story is, I don’t really care about the other QBs in the league, unless of course they’re on my fantasy team. I care about our guy, seeing him get better, seeing him lead us to Ws. Here’s hoping he can lead us to victory in Cheeseville on Sunday night…
