September 12, 2023: Man Down

Week 1 of the NFL season wrapped up on Monday night in dramatic fashion. I’ll tell you what: those script writers did a hell of a job. You know, it’s funny that the NFL went directly head on against those accusations and ran commercials talking about outrageous plans. Truth is, I do believe there is some level of scripting that happens from game to game, week to week. I see Tom Brady come out and say some stuff about it… just made me believe it more honestly. “Why would I agree to lose to Peyton Manning?”… seriously? Because you would eventually own 7 rings you dumb ass. I don’t think it’s THAT blatant, like WWE blatant, but there are definitely components IMO; that’s a whole another rabbit hole to go down. But when Aaron Rodgers went down on his 4th play as a New York Jet, plans definitely changed, if not for the first game against Buffalo, but for the rest of the year.

I was out and about. When I heard Zach Wilson in the game, I was like huh? Then I started getting text messages… Then an evil grin started showing on my face. What? Was I happy Aaron Rodgers got injured? Haha… well, I didn’t shed any tears, that’s for sure, but… really don’t like to see anyone get injured, at least not a season ending one, and in Aaron’s case, maybe a career ending one. Sure, I root for him to fail, but not like that… Kind of similar to when he was traded away to the Jets. Was I happy we didn’t have to face him any more? Sure. Would I rather have beat him? Yes. So, no, I’m not happy he’s out for the year; I would have rather seen him flop in the postseason like he always does. The fact that the Packers draft pick is now impacted does make me feel good though…

Poor Aaron… guy finally gets out of cheeseland, and bam… man down… done for the year. And Jets fans… sucks man, but hey, you guys still won the game; how about that in-game script adjustment? It’s BS if you ask me, and I say that because I had money on Buffalo, and when I heard Rodgers was out, was already counting my money… unreal. That was Week 1 in a nutshell though. Besides taking a steel-toe to the gonads as a Bears fan, Week 1 in the NFL was not friendly to my Draft Kings account. Back to the grind man…

Speaking about that grind, it’s time to use the overreactions that are the NFL to a gambler’s advantage. Fade the Packers, Niners, and Cowboys maybe? No way the Chiefs can go 0-2 right? Jets w/o Rodgers undervalued? Let’s see what the NFL has in store for us when the 2nd week begins this Thursday. This first one was a doozy; it will be hard to top. But I’m sure the NFL has it in them… It will all ramp up to the biggest fixed game of the year when Rodgers will be helicoptered in, making a miraculous return, to lead the Jets to the Super Bowl… haha. Man oh man…
