You have to wonder what was said during that conversation, that one between Theo and Samardzjia. Theo: If you come back for less money you will pitch in the postseason. Jeff: I’m going to get paid and still pitch in the postseason. Who knows exactly what was said, but they could have both been right.
The Shark pitched his first postseason game as the enemy cloaked in orange and black on Saturday night in Wrigley. He did make it to October, but he was pitching on the wrong side. The Cubs shelled him; he didn’t last 2 innings. Shoulda woulda Shark.
It was a nice lead built up; we needed it. Not only did it take some stress away, it allowed for our bullpen to pitch with a lead for the majority of the game. Kyle took one off the forearm and was taken out of the game. Smart, conservative move to take him out; hope he’s not hurt too bad.
He wasn’t pitching that great, but he will be called on again if this postseason goes the way we want it to. So far so good; but we’ve really only just begun. Kyle will have to make 3-4 more huge starts if we’re to get to 11 wins before anybody. I’ll take 2-0 for starters.
This is going according to script so far, at least as the end result is concerned. Few errors in the field was not like the Cubs. Rizzo hitless so far. Baez 1-2 with his early home run trot. We’re winning, so all is well. And it is, but it could and will get better. That’s scary for everybody else in the playoffs, and just insanely great for us fans. As one of our regular commentators said, they are who we thought they were. I’m taking about the Giants.

Yet, there is no reason to celebrate a series win until we win 3. No reason to get overexcited heading cross country to face a 3 time World Series champ on the ropes with their ace on the mound. There is still unfinished business to attend to. I’m looking forward to seeing Jake match up with MadBum; you see Jake’s stats in the state of California?
I’m happy that I zoned in for this one; I’m happy that it didn’t have a negative effect. Heck, I’m even writing this blog before the game is over; to hell with jinxes and curses. It’s a new era; at least it has been for the first 2 games of this postseason. I’m digging it.
Travel day now, for me too. Traveling back west to Chicago, while the Cubs go all the way west to rice a roni land. I know I predicted the series to go 5, but no way in hell do I want this series coming back now.
Keep it rolling boys. I’m loving it so far. 2 down, 9 to go. Can you dig it?

Up 2-0 in the series and the Cubs did what they were supposed to, win both at Wrigley. Heading west to face bum and eliminate the giants.
Hendricks hurt but should be ok. The errors need to get cleaned up. Baez needs to run instead of trot. The bullpen did great. Like to see the Cubs shoot the ball the other way. Easy to fee after these 2 wins and why shouldnt we? It just feels different. Not being cocky or overconfident, but the Cubs seem relaxed. The pressure is just starting, but they seem to be enjoying things so far. Hope it stays the same once they face a deficit or some adversity. We might find out tomorrow or maybe not. Time to finish things Jake…no need to mess around Cubs! GO CUBS GO!!!

Samardzjia = Suckardra…..how the tides have turned…you missed something special dude. Chased after 2 innings, what a shame. So glad Baez was not traded, but you need to learn to RUN man….no more of the one man stuff. Hopefully that slide knocked some sense into you.
Bleed the blue baby…GO CUBBIES!
