October 6, 2021: Into the Muck

Wow. How about that Cardinals regular season winning streak? Pretty cool huh? Unfortunately, they blew their load with that, and had nothing left to get past the Dodgers in the Wild Card playoff game. First box checked in the 2021 MLB playoffs.

I love seeing the Cardinals lose; it’s no secret. They rank up there right behind the Packers in teams that I hate the most. So yeah, heck yeah I was rooting for the Dodgers. Of course, now I want the Giants to kick their ass. It’s cool that the Dodgers are trying to get back to the World Series to win a real ring this year; nobody counts that shit from last year, right, besides Dodger fans? That NLDS should be a hell of a series, between heated rivals, between teams with a combined 213 regular season wins. You throw in KB with the ex-Cub factor; I may indeed be tuning into some West Coast playoff baseball.

But back to the Cardinals… ah yes; it’s a beautiful day, even if it is raining outside this morning. The air smells so good; I can hear the birds chirping, in fact, one may even be a Cardinal. They are beautiful birds. They’re even more beautiful when the St. Louis Cardinals are sitting on their couches watching the MLB playoffs. The Lou??? WTF is that? Nobody knows and quite frankly, nobody cares. Besides the Arch, nobody wants to go there. Well, they do have a pretty cool zoo, but yeah, why the hell would anybody go to St. Louis except to watch the Cubs play there? That’s OK. The Cardinals, like the Yankees, can rest easy with all of their World Series rings; just ain’t adding to that total this year boys, and for that, I am ecstatic.

To lose in walk off fashion is just like having that extra cookie and drink of milk before going to bed. Losing would have been sufficient, but losing in that fashion… chef’s kiss. And now St. Louis fans can go back to cheering on their football team… oh wait. Their basketball team… uh, try again. Ah yes, the Blues… they’re singing them that’s for damn sure; good tunes too. I’m sure they’ll do OK this year… But it’s wait for next year for the Cardinals, just like our Cubs. Misery loves company no? Well, if the Cubs don’t win it all, the next best thing is the Cardinals losing; they’re my 2 top goals each MLB season. 1 for 2 ain’t bad.

So what’s next in these MLB playoffs? We already said we’ll be rooting for the Giants; obviously going for the Braves as well. The Red Sox and Rays is a toss up; guess I’d lean Red Sox because of Schwarbs. Then there’s the Sox Astros series… they are Chicago right? I think that’s going to be a great series. Like I’ve been saying most of the year, I think the Sox have as good a chance as anybody. Do I want them to win it all? Uh, um, uh… I’m not going to root against them, OK; that’s always been my stance. Whatever will be will be. Hey, I am wearing my socks today, so I am supporting them, right?

But just one more time… bye bye Birdies! Take your whatever game regular season winning streak and stick it up your ass. Yep, you can throw these Cards into the muck… good day!
