We must beat the teams we are supposed to beat. We must beat the teams we are supposed to beat. We must… Regardless of how good you feel about the Bears season thus far, losing to the door mat that is this Carolina Panthers team would be hurtful. One step forward, two steps back. How on earth could the Panthers win this game?
Our offense hasn’t exactly been lights out, and that’s putting it nicely. Certainly if the Panthers defense could limit our offense, maybe produce a couple turnovers… there starts the formula for success. There is the Andy Dalton revenge game angle. Not sure how much hate Andy has built up inside of his soul for his time here, and departure from the Bears organization, but we could go there. How about payback for the fleecing the Bears have done to the Panthers with that trade? How many times do you think that will be brought up on Sunday’s broadcast, how the Panthers helped propel the Bears to their current position, while watching Bryce Young suit up and sit on the bench… ouch. Dalton certainly has the Panthers a bit more respectable, snagging a win over the Raiders, before losing to the Bengals (his other revenge game?) last week. Sure, Andy maybe throws a couple TDs; Chuba Hubbard has been good out of the backfield. Maybe they score 24 points on us, including the short field provided to their offense by the turnovers their defense gets; it’s not THAT far fetched is it?
The Bears are only 2-2. Sure, the loss against Houston is understandable, but the loss to the Colts? Yes, I know, they beat the Steelers last week, so… OK, how about barely beating the Titans and the banged up Rams? We don’t have any signature wins by any means, although at this point, every win is a signature win. Beating the Panthers wouldn’t impress anyone, yet it should; please see paragraph one. The Bears are in no position to take ANY opponent for granted; I hope that message has been communicated loud and clear by this coaching staff, although knowing this coaching staff… OK, cheap shot maybe. This should not be an overlooked game; there should be no look ahead for London. If the Bears come out focused, and play their best game, they will beat the Panthers. If…
Final Score Prediction: Bears 27 Panthers 24
Ace in the Hole: Caleb Williams 2 TD passes
This final will make us happy, maybe not so much for those betting on the Bears to cover the 4 point spread. I think it will be closer than folks think; I still do believe the Bears will emerge victorious. Maybe the Bears start off losing this game, and come back for the W, on a Cairo FG as time expires? Let’s see if I predicted the script right in this spot; I hope so. Bear Down!
