October 4, 2015: Off The Schneid

posted in: Bears | 1

You didn’t think they’d go winless did you?  The Bears ended their 3 game losing streak to start the 2015 NFL season with a win over Oakland on Sunday. It wasn’t easy, but a win is a win.

Oakland has a pretty good team. Their future looks bright with a stud WR, a young QB, RB, and LB in Mack. I think they’ll be fine the rest of the season…much better than us, but on this day the Bears were better.

We did get some gifts from that young RB I mentioned. Murray had one bounce off his hands right into ours, and then put the ball in the ground late in this one too. Two big turnovers that aided our efforts. We did try to pay them back.  Good old Jay threw a late pick to a familiar pair of hands in Charles Woodson. Thankfully, we overcame.

Yeah, so Jay played. Bravo!  But what I heard on some sports radio this morning before the game just got me mad. They said toughness was in Jay’s DNA. Excuse me?  Did we forget the biggest game of his career, and one of the biggest games in franchise history where he stood on the bench in the second half?  How quickly we forget. THAT is his DNA.

Yes, he miraculously came back from a hamstring injury after missing only one week.  I think of the line from Scarface when Tony Montana survived the hit put out on him and came back to his boss’ office who ordered it.  After having him shot, he turned his attention to the guy trying to extort money from him who said “you can’t shoot a cop” to which Tony replied “whoever said you was one”. Whoever said Jay was really hurt. Whoever said it was his hamstring. Are we taking John Fox’s word, who has lied about every other injury this year?  I’m not. I’m not a conspiracy theorist or anything, but I don’t believe that diagnosis. After all, how many 1 week hamstring injuries are there in the NFL per NFL expert Hub Arkush?  It was a load of bull.  Whatever the injury was, he missed Seattle, where he would have been pounded just like Claussen, and came back a week later at home vs a much more manageable opppment.  Hmmmm…

I don’t blame Fox. He’s trying to make Jay look good and yes, he does give us a better chance to win than anyone else on the current roster. Fox is trying to help get this team going in the right direction. I believe he will, I just don’t believe Jay will be a part of it when it’s all said and done. He dropped a snap, which I’m sure was the center’s fault just like everything is always somebody else’s fault. Then he threw the back breaking pick. But kudos, he led us down fo FG range barely…couldn’t run one more play to get us a little closer. Thanks to Mr good as Gould, it didn’t matter, and the Bears got off the Schneid.

Sorry, had to let that out, but really, I am happy. Winning is always better than losing. I’m not one for tanking going 0-16 to get the first pick of the draft. You know how painful that would be week in week out. Geez. Glad to get in the win column. Everything just seems better then.

I’m not even going to talk about next week or the rest of the season yet. I want to enjoy this one. I’m not sure how many there’ll be. They’re not as bad everyone thought, but it will be a grind no doubt. Time to turn our focus to the other “Bears” in town. Glad to do so with a smile on my face and a win to start this most important week. Bear Down!

Jay will always be jay. I guess I can say that he shows signs of being tough, but his lack of heart is really the problem, which makes it easy for him to sit out games. Regardless, he gives the Bears the best chance to win right now, and I would like to see more W’s this year! It was definitely not pretty versus the silver and black, but GOULD saved the day and the Bears. Not only did he drill the game winner from 49, he also hit one from 54 earlier in the 4th. He is as money as kickers come, and we can always count on him…just get in range. My ace in the hole, marques wilson, had a solid game. Maybe alshon can get healthy so we can see what this Bears offense can really do. It starts with 1 win, and the Bears got that…time to get some more, starting next week in kc!
    BEAR DOWN!!!
