October 31, 2018: Pulse

After being so pissed after the Bulls Warriors game, I just knew it had to be better.  If the Nuggets were to roll in here and kick our ass…  They’re certainly not the Warriors, but they are a pretty good team; they don’t even have Michael Porter Jr. yet.  I was hoping that the Bulls showed some sort of pulse against these guys…  thankfully they did.

They didn’t win the game; they should have, but they didn’t.  But like I said, that’s OK… Yes, winning is important, very important, but for this Bulls team at this point, going out there and giving it your all, competing hard, leaving it on the court… you can’t ask for more; you really can’t ask for more from any team.  Teams that win it all just have the talent to match the heart… most of the time.

I saw a small light during that Warriors game.  The dunk by WCJ… yeah, we can start referring to him with initials… was very impressive.  He looked mad; good!  That’s what I like to see.  He followed that up with his best game as a pro against the Nuggets.  I think we may have a keeper here.  He is definitely raw, but he’s already showing that heart… and if you start with that, the rest will come.  Because you will be driven and motivated to get better.  The heart is there, the talent is there, now it’s just a matter of getting to work.  We won’t see the finished product this year, but I think we’ll see an improvement throughout the year.  I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes the all-rookie team.  Loved seeing him swat that shot away…  one guy that plays defense consistently.

Cam Payne has been playing better… he’s been playing OK.  But down the stretch, he needs to get the ball in somebody else’s hands, like Zach Lavine for example.  I think that’s why Fred decided to go with Ryan down the stretch and into OT.  He’s nothing earth shattering, but he seems to hustle and move the ball around, two good traits for a PG.  I guess it didn’t end up working, since we lost the game, but… A Millsap put back right before the buzzer ended our night.  Box out boys!!!

I’m just happy that they stepped up the energy and effort.  It gave me some hope going forward.  And then the other big thing happened… D Rose 50 points!?!?!  Somebody has more than a pulse; he’s alive and kicking.  I was happy to see that.

It’s been a rollercoaster with Rose over the years, and although I definitely don’t think his number should be retired with the Bulls or anything like that, I am in a place now where I can hope he does well.  He is from Chicago, and he is playing with the other ex-Bulls.  I would love to see the Timberwolves make some noise out West.  As for Derrick, I thought he’d be a great backup point guard for a few years, but now after this?  We’ll see… still, it was nice to see him do well.

OK, that wraps it up for this edition.  Pacers up next on Friday.  Go Bulls!

Yes, the Bulls rose from the dead after that gsw burial and played with some heart vs the nugs. Unfortunately, it did not end up in a W. The Bulls just are not talented enough to win games, but the effort and heart should always be there to keep them close, and even win a few here or there. It sure looks like Vegas knew what they were doing setting that over/under at 28…ouch! WCJ has been a bright spot so far this year, along with Zach. It will be interesting to see how the Bulls play once they get valentine, Markk, and dunn back. Not making any predictions but just want to see them gel and play with some consistency.
Drose drops a 50 ball…wow! Talk about someone else rising from the dead. This guy has been in the ashes for years, trying to get above them. For one game, he has. Will it last? I doubt it. I feel another injury coming on, the career ending kind…hahaha. Don’t wish it on him, just saying. He certainly has fought through a lot to get back to doing what he did. That in itself is impressive. I guess if he just keeps his mouth shut, I would have no problem with him, except his hair…hahaha. GO BULLS!!!
