October 28, 2022: Week 8 at Cowboys

posted in: Bears | 0

How about them Cowboys? Yeah, one of the most overrated teams in the NFL every single year is actually doing decent; they have a 5-2 record. Dak is back, the defense is good, and although Zeke may not play, they have that covered too with Pollard. Should we be worried?

No worries here; expectations are still low, at least per Papa Vegas. 10 point dogs in this one? Makes sense when you compare it to the 8.5 points we were catching in Foxboro last week; it doesn’t make sense based on how the Bears played. I guess nobody is buying it; nobody believes that it was a step, but instead, more likely a fluke. I love that underdog chip on our shoulder; we’ve had it since folks started predicting us last in the entire NFL!!! And now, the disrespect continues. Disrespect… feels like an overused word today; always about disrespect this, disrespect that, and the response to that. In this particular instance, what have the Bears exactly done to earn respect? One win against the not-the-same-any-more Patriots? I get it. The Bears certainly have to prove themselves a lot more than just one win. In the NFL 17 game season, every win counts; in the NFL, with all of the parody, any team can win against any other team on any given Sunday, or Monday… shit, or Thursday, but you get what I’m saying. I’m glad nobody is buying into the Bears; I like it that way.

How will the Bears respond after a big win, then turning around on a shorter week, heading back on the road, to play a tough NFC opponent? This will be fun to see, I hope. I like that feeling I had sitting on the couch during the 4th quarter of that MNF game; it felt damn good. I don’t want to go back to embarrassment, anger, WTF-ness. No, I want to build on what we saw. This might not necessarily lead to a win against the Cowgirls, but it should lead to a respectable performance; that and a bag of chips will get you far… haha. Winning is the bottom line; not sure we’re ready to do that consistently, but… maybe we’re closer than some think???

Final Score Prediction: Bears 27 Cowboys 24

Ace in the Hole: Bears Defense– 4 sacks, 2 turnovers, 1 TD

What? Did you think I was going to pick the Cowboys? Talking about winning consistently… they’ve won 3 playoff games in the past 25 years, which is just about the same as us. Just like we were supposed to be scared of the mighty Pats, right? We’re supposed to “fear” heading into Dallas to play them? Hell no. They’re not much better than us, or anybody else frankly. If your team name isn’t the Bills or the Chiefs, pump the brakes. The difference between the 3rd best team in the NFL (which is NOT the Cowboys BTW) and the 32nd best team (which is NOT us BTW), is not that great. So… game on! Why can’t we win another? The answer is, we can. Bear Down!!!
