It’s a beautiful day to be a Bears fan. With a Bears win over the Jets followed by Lions, Packers, and Vikings losses, the Bears went from last place in the division, back to first place in the division. Going last to first has never been so easy.
I think it’s going to be neck and neck all year. I’m just glad the Bears took care of business vs the Jets at Soldier Field this Sunday. For a while there, they were letting them hang around… and you know what happens when you let a bad team like the Jets hang around, hang around… they could wake up and beat you. I was happy when the Bears scored their 2nd TD, but then we opened the door slightly…
Maybe you thought the Eddie Jackson penalty was BS… maybe you haven’t been watching the NFL lately. You know a hit like that is going to draw a flag, regardless of it being a football play or not. He had enough time to pull up and just bump him, instead of laying him out. Don’t get me wrong… I loved to see Eddie lay that guy out, but it cost us. Eddie was smiling after the play… he knew better. The defense had played so solid all game long; this was the first mistake. And although the Jets suck, the Bears aren’t good enough to overcome a lot of mistakes. I was glad they were able to overcome this one… and the next one.
The next one was Fuller mistiming his jump. That dude can cover; I don’t think that’s disputable. But his ball skills are horrendous. Romo sure brought up that dropped INT vs GB week 1; I try to forget about it. Fuller is a great defensive player, he just doesn’t get picks. That one was all his. If it was the first time Fuller misplayed a ball, OK, but this is a regular occurrence. It’s just something we have to live with. It’s something that he should work his ass off in the offseason to improve upon… maybe all it will take is one big pick in a game…

Anyways, the Jets scored, but we did too; we held the lead and won the game. It was a game that we should have won, and we did. That is something that we couldn’t always say about the Bears. Beating teams you’re supposed to beat is half the battle. Beating good teams is another thing that we’re still learning. If this holds true, there are enough teams on the schedule, including next week, that we’re supposed to beat to make the Bears a playoff team. Then we’ll see how much we’ve learned about beating good teams… I can’t wait to find out.
Yeah, Mitch had an OK game. I love his mobility and presence in the pocket; that is definitely one of his strengths. Once he decides to go, he’s crafty running down the field too. He still does have to work on his accuracy; it’s still inconsistent, but that should come with time. In the middle of his first full year at QB; I think we can cut him a little slack on that. I’m glad we were able to rest Mack and get away with it; it was the smart thing to do. Not sure what’s up with Robinson… But the worst thing to happen in yesterday’s game was the injury to Kyle Long. It looks like another serious one, and that sucks. He did have a dumb penalty early in the game, but he’s a great OL, and one of our leaders. To lose him for the season would definitely hurt. I just hope he can come back from it; I just hope he can get through an entire season without getting hurt. I hope he doesn’t end up being one of these snake-bitten guys…
Big win, followed by big losses by the rest of the division. It’s a great formula. Next up Buffalo. Let’s keep this thing rolling. Bear Down!

Pay me for betting on the Bears going last to first…hahaha. What a Sunday! The Bears win a game they are favored to and actually cover, too, plus every other team in the division lost…yes! I agree that the nfc central is going to be tight all year. No slip ups Bears. This sure did seem like one of those banana peel games where the Bears were letting the jets hang close long enough to slip on that peel. Fortunately, the Bears closed the deal. The D played great. Resting Mack was the right thing to do. If needed, rest him again against the Bills. A healthy Mack will be needed as 5 games remain against nfc central opponents. Hope Robinson is ok, although Gabriel has been a pleasant surprise so far this season. Long going down seems like a recurring problem. The guy is great when he is on the field, but he spends just about the same amount watching from the sideline. Fuller does suck at getting that ball, but I feel a big pick coming in his future. As for EJack, yes, he certainly could have pulled up, but that play just shows more and more how soft the nfl is really becoming. One thing is head to head hits, but now that? Come on, man! Glad it didn’t end up mattering. Next up, traveling up to buffalo to face another offensive challenged team. Their D seems solid, but if the offense can score 20+, I think the Bears D can do the rest. Back in first and ready to stay there! BEAR DOWN!!!
