October 26, 2021: Carrying the Weight

There it was. There they were. Our knights in shining armor, the Chicago Bulls, carrying the weight of the Chicago sports world, with an impressive win over the Raptors on Monday night in Toronto, running their record to 4-0 for the first time since 1996-1997. Thank you!

Ahhh, the 90s, the Bulls, MJ… yeah, those were the days. The Bulls were kings of the court lead by the greatest of all time Jordan, defeating all foes, left and right, with nobody standing a chance against our boys in the Finals. 6-0 if I remember correctly… haha. Yeah, well, since then… zippo. The quest for 7 has never been completed. We had our runs… Thibs, DRose, Jo, Jimmy, Taj, Deng… yes, those teams should have been able to complete it, at least once… I just knew they would, but alas, the injury bug… that we don’t want to rehash. Since then, there have been some dark days in the UC, until now… The 2021-2022 Bulls have arrived, with so much hope in the preseason. So far, they are rewarding all of us for that hope, and God knows we need it. The Bulls starting off the season 4-0 is a beautiful thing.

Are they really that good? Who cares. I don’t care who they beat so far. Our record is our record is our record. I’m going to enjoy it, and I’m going to continue to think big for our Bulls; they have given us zero reason to doubt them thus far. Sure, they almost blew it Monday night. It felt like watching the Bulls the past few years, seeing that big lead evaporate, blowing it down the stretch, losing a close game that we should have won. But noooo… not this year’s team. This year’s team closed it out. They withstood the comeback. They won the close game, and damn right, I’m happy about that. It was a great shot in the arm coming off an ugly, ugly Sunday.

The Raptors are a good team; Toronto has become a tough place to play. It was a quality win if you may. We’ll get another chance on Thursday night at the UC vs the Knicks. Bulls vs Knicks… has a nice ring to it, no? Talk about taking me back… to those 90s, when oh yeah, the Knicks were just another speed bump on our road to the Finals. Talking about owning… we owned the Knicks. This time though, we’ll be met with familiar faces, those faces that I thought were going to bring us our 7th ring; faces that we will always love. No time for that right now. I know it’s only October, but… if we run into them, and it’s got to be us or them that has to go down, believe you me brother, it’s going to be them.

Love what I’ve seen so far from the Bulls; looking forward to Thursday’s game. I always try to watch the Bulls, but are they sneaking their way back into can’t miss TV? Can’t lie; watching them these past few years, at times, hasn’t been fun. It’s fun again people; it’s fun again. Winning is fun too. Let’s keep this party bus rolling. Go Bulls!!!
