There used to be higher standards around here… You know, the Bulls used to win NBA Championships. In fact, there are only 3 franchises that have more than we do. Also, did you know that the Bulls are the ONLY NBA franchise to win multiple NBA titles without losing in the Finals? That feels like another lifetime ago, and it kind of was. We are now 25 years removed from the last NBA title in Chicago, but forget about that. These Bulls have their sights set on different goals, like winning a play-in game. Yes, last year the Bulls were just good enough to get into the play-in bullshit; they won a game too, before absolutely choking away the 2nd play-in game to the Miami Heat who would eventually go to the Finals and get crushed by Denver. So… since last year worked so well, let’s run back the same fricking team again, and hope for something different? Isn’t that part of the definition of insanity?
Not sure about you, but the Bulls opener on Wednesday night just put me over the edge. Yes, I know it’s only 1 game, and it wasn’t quite the plane crash that the Bears opener was, but it certainly was a bus crash at the very least. Yes, the Bulls were Thunder Struck by OKC, getting blown out by 20 points at the UC in front of the faithful. Woof! What a way to start the season…
But hey, the Bulls shot more three pointers!!! What an F-ing joke. Quick newsflash for the front office and coaching staff: the Bulls are NOT a 3 point shooting team. So…. shooting more treys is not going to matter; we’ll still be making them at a shitty clip. That was the answer for improvement this year? Please tell me you’re joking… Don’t worry though; this was only part of this year’s strategy. The 2nd part was to NOT guard the opposing team behind the arc; that part worked to perfection, let me tell you.
But have no fear… the Bulls reportedly had a “players only” meeting after this debacle. Really? Talk about another load of shit. It’s the first game guys!!! You need to already look in the mirror, or were you talking about the coach, and doing the exact opposite of what he’s been telling you. Talk about a train wreck already. After the game I went on a rant… get whatever you can for everybody on this team, except Coby White. Caruso will get us something; DeRozan… please don’t tell me we’re going to resign him. I saw a note about Patrick Williams looking for a $200M deal the next time around; I almost died laughing. And then there’s our boy Zach, coming into his 10th season, about to turn into an exclusive catch and shoot guy… My oh my what a mess.
I feel like that Dr. Pepper commercial, when everybody is going nuts… and the guy reminds them it’s only been one play. So yeah, it’s only 0-1 in the standings, but with the same team back, and the results from last year already well known, it’s hard to imagine this team will be anything but right around 500, and right around the play in game again. Is that what we’re shooting for this year? If we think we can compete with any of the good teams in either conference… OK, I’ll stop, and save some of this for the next game. The Bulls host the Raptors on Friday in a rematch of that historic play-in game victory… eye roll… Go Bulls!
