October 24, 2016: After Shock

posted in: Cubs | 2

Yes, it really did happen.  The Cubs are going to the World Series.  It’s still unbelievable to me.  I look forward to seeing a game on Tuesday that I have never witnessed before.  I was glad to get past the Dodgers.

I wanted to play the Dodgers for the revenge factor; I wanted to heal some old wounds by beating them when it counts.  Mission accomplished.  After the series was done, I checked the LA newspapers and writers for the Dodger reaction.  No I didn’t… because I don’t care.  As soon as those final 2 outs were recorded (by the way, I’ve watched that like 25 times… that’s probably on the low side for some of us.), I forgot about the Dodgers.  I forgot about mighty Kershaw and the excuses FOX started making for him.  I forgot about the annoying Adrian Gonzalez and Yasmani Grandal.  I did remember the pest that was Andrew Toles; I remembered his drop of that fly ball that told me that this was OUR game.  Yes, the Dodgers are off the hit list for now.  We’ve beaten them on the biggest stage possible for two National League teams.  I can begin to forget about 2008, and more importantly, focus on the next opponent at hand.

There is another opponent by the way.  We have not done IT yet.  Yes, the Cubs are going to the World Series for the first time in 71 years.  Yes, that is a HUGE accomplishment; it should be celebrated.  Remember, the Cubs celebrate EVERY win; so important wins like the NLDS and now, for the first time in 71 years, the NLCS, should be celebrated like crazy.  The thing I like about the postgame stuff is that most of the players did remind the media, and maybe themselves, that the job is not complete yet.  Wouldn’t it suck to get there and lose?

It’s very essential for men making intercourse as satisfactory physical intimacy buying viagra in india by achieving healthy and strong erection on needed level. The Pfizer that marketed the most desired medicine, the cost of which was about $ 15.00 per pill and the other tadalafil 20mg for women sells at 1.00 dollar per pill. Hence, it is always purchase generic viagra advised to seek medical help as soon as possible. That’s where my brain went right away.  Yes, I cried.  Yes, I watched the highlights multiple times.  Yes, I couldn’t be happier right now with this team, but… I’m not saying it wouldn’t all matter, because it would.  I’m saying it doesn’t mean a thing without the ring.  So, back to the grind… for one more series.

I feel pretty good though; I feel pretty confident.  The largeness of this victory, to get to a World Series, cannot be underestimated.  Yes, we should not underestimate our opponent, but man, this Cubs team has a lot going for it.  Most importantly, they are the best team in baseball, as proven over 162.  That has never changed.  They’ve battled through some adversity in these playoffs too; they’ve given us the ride of our lives thus far, and it’s been worth it, every single minute of it.  Maybe the fact that we finally made the World Series will carry us through; this will propel us to a point we’ve never seen.  The after shock of this accomplishment will be too great for any opponent that the Cubs would face in the World Series.  This Cubs train is rolling, like never before, so get out of the way type stuff…  I’m hoping.

See, there I go again.  I have to throw that in there.  It’s not a given, and it’s really not.  Next, we’ll do our World Series preview, and look at this opponent I keep mentioning:  the Cleveland Indians.  Any team that gets to this point is no slouch.  The Cubs need to continue to bring their A game to complete the mission.  I’m happy to soak in all of the accomplishments thus far.  I’m happy to relax for a minute; to take a breath and smile.  I’m about ready to zone back in; to get the game face back on.  The Cubs need to get back to the grind for one more series, to finish what this team has started all those months ago.  It’s the Cubs Indians in the World Series; isn’t that fricking awesome???  Let’s Go Cubs!!!
