I needed a little break from the Bears after last week’s debacle. The Bulls and the Blackhawks provided some distractions, both good and bad. But now, let’s get back to business. The Bears head to Tampa Bay on Sunday to face the defending champs lead by the ageless wonder at QB. Who you got?
Well, Papa Vegas likes the Bucs… a lot. What is the line up to now? 13 points? That’s too many points, flat out. We’re only one year removed from being one of the few teams to BEAT Tampa Bay last year; I know you remember that? And now we’re 2 TD underdogs just because we’re in Tampa? Well, no, it’s not just because we’re on the road; it’ll come down to the matchup with the most age difference in history at the QB position: Brady vs Fields.
Let’s start with the hard to argue greatest QB of all time in Tom Brady. I see he was running his mouth this week; that’s funny. Hey, he’s got to say stuff to pump up his podcast or whatever he’s doing for attention, money, or whatever, like he doesn’t have enough of both already. First he jumps into the Rodgers I own you comment, then he takes a shot at Ohio St QBs; being from Michigan, I guess that makes sense. I think it’s funny because if I remember correctly last year, he was running for his damn life; big mouth Tom was curled up on the ground scared out of his wits, enough to forget how many downs there were in a Bucs loss at Soldier Field. Hey Tom, our defense is putting more pressure on the QB this year than last; you may want to chill out a bit. Although with Brady, he’s pretty much cashed all those checks he writes with his mouth; I’d like to see one bounce this Sunday.
And Fields, our guy, our future, the rookie… We can only hope he becomes anywhere near as successful a QB as who his counterpart is this weekend. Still so early with Justin… I do like that he’s in there; I do think he’s learning. I do think he’ll continue to get better… I just want him to be better now! I still feel like the play calling and offensive coordination from whatever source can be better. Sunday is our next chance.

It’s only 1pm on a Friday, and although that doesn’t mean anything, I haven’t started drinking yet. Excuse me if I’m still pretty excited about Fields and the Bears chances this year. Yeah, the Packers loss hurt, like they all do, but we’ll see them again, and until then, we need to get some Ws, even if it’s against a team like the Bucs. Last week, we felt like we would beat the Pack; this week, the odds are stacked against us, not nearly as confident. It’s funny how things work out sometimes, but yeah, I do think the Bears have a better chance to win this game than most think. In order to win, we’re going to have to score a bunch of points… in this case, more than we’ve scored all season long. Let’s put it together this week boys. Bear Down!!!
