October 22, 2018: The Drought Will Continue

posted in: Cubs | 0

When the NLCS matchup was set, I was in hell.  Who to root for?  The Dodgers, a team that I have built up some hate for over the years, or the Brewers, a team that I have built up some hate for this year.  I guess the fact that the hate for the Brewers was more recent won out.  I felt dirty about it, but I was rooting for the Dodgers to win.

And it happened… the drought will continue for the Milwaukee Brewers.  No World Series titles, ever.  That makes me smile…

Then I thought about the line from Carlito’s Way:  “What happened to you?  What are you acting like this for?  It doesn’t make sense you should hate this guy.  Because this guy is you 20 years ago.”  It’s not exactly accurate, but you get my drift right?  Yes, the Cubs had 2 World Series titles that nobody alive saw in person, but the first one for this generation just happened 2 years ago.  In fact, I usually root for teams that have not won because of the struggle that I am very familiar with.  According to that rule, I should have been rooting FOR the Brewers, not against them.

Then I thought… Brewer fans are probably more like me than Dodger fans.  True, not true, that’s what I thought.  Maybe for the reason I mentioned above…. yes, the Dodgers have been waiting 30 years, but the Brewers have NEVER won it… so we have that struggle in common.  Or maybe it’s because the Dodger fans get there in the 3rd and leave in the 7th; I guess it’s better than letting another team’s fans take over your park like we do to Milwaukee.  Although Cubs fans do pretty well in LA too…  Or maybe it’s the whole Midwest thing… values, etc that we share with those folks from Wisconsin vs the folks out in Cali.  I don’t know…

After taking this sildenafil tablets india pill you will find great flow of blood towards the penis and great in effect.
Then I thought… Most Brewer fans are Packer fans, and that made me NOT feel bad about rooting for them to lose.  That was easy.

They get to throw Packers stuff in our face all year long, now they’ll get to throw a 2018 World Series title in our face, knocking our ass out in the process.  Yes, I know they didn’t knock us out of the playoffs, but they put us in the win or go home position.  They beat us out in the division.  They came down to Wrigley in droves to do that in game 163, celebrating on our field.  Nah, no way I can root for them right now.  Screw the Brewers.

And they got screwed… The Dodgers beat them in Game 7… the most painful loss of all.  Sorry, not sorry.  But now that this is done, the decision of who to root for in the World Series is easy.  It’s NOT the Dodgers.  I’d prefer the Red Sox didn’t win either, but I don’t have any other options at this point.  So Go Red Sox!?!?!  I don’t feel as dirty rooting for them as I did in rooting for the Dodgers, but it still doesn’t feel great.  But that’s what we, OK that’s what I resort to when my team is done; you should know this.  I guess what makes me feel better, is looking at it this way:  I root against teams, not necessarily for another.  The lesser of two evils… Let the World Series begin… can’t wait to be back in there.  Go Cubs!

Sure do wish the Cubs were still playing and not lala. Would have been nice to decide the nlcs between them for a 3rd straight year…just not to be. But, the dodgers are back in the world series after knocking out the brewcrew. The drought for them definitely continues, and I am fine with it. Call it what you want, but they are hated by this Cubs fan, just like the dodgers. So rooting for the red sux since they have been the best team all year long. I remember the 2016 world series and cannot imagine this one coming close to it. Make quick work of lala and move on to next year for our Cubbies. GO CUBS GO!!!
