There have been many baseball seasons when the Cubs are eliminated, whether in the regular season or in the postseason, I’m done. I’m so disgusted with the end of the Cubs season, that I do not watch any of the postseason. This year has been different. I’ve watched the MLB playoffs pretty closely, but now… it’s over. Who the heck wants to watch a Yankees Dodgers World Series? Well, I imagine there will be some, especially if you’re throwing a little cheddar on it.
I hate the Dodgers; that’s no secret. When talking with my wife’s cousin in New York, I told him if this was the World Series, I’d be with him 100%. Still, I feel a little slimy rooting for the Bronx Bombers. I know, I know… Ohtani vs Judge… arguably the top 2 players in the game today facing off in the Fall Classic. It’d be even better if Shohei were pitching to Judge… imagine. The Shohei glazing is a little much though. I mean, the networks are putting his picture up to let us know how many batters we have to wait to see him bat again… come on. Nothing against the dude; he’s awesome, no doubt, but I don’t need to know when he’s coming up to bat for God’s sake. I know Judge Ohtani is the marquee matchup, but let’s not forget about one guy… Juan Soto. This dude is an absolute stud, one which I hope we’ll see roaming right field for the Cubs next year. Break out the checkbook Jed. The guy can flat out rake, and, and… even more impressive, he does it on the big stage. He’s already got a ring with the Nationals for those of you who have forgot. Now, he goes for #2. If Soto is the guy to watch for the Yanks, what about Mookie with LA? He had struggled in the postseason until recently, and BAM… break out time. The more I talk about this, the more I think I may change my mind; maybe I should be watching this.
It’s New York vs LA… ugh. Nothing against both cities; I love NYC. I lived in LA for a while. The two biggest cities/markets in the country battling it out for all the marbles…. I could see why the MLB is salivating, ready to be showered with greenbacks for this series. I was rooting for a Subway Series actually. I wanted the Mets to take it all; is that bad for a Cubs fan? Well, for the older Cubs fans out there, it definitely is. I wasn’t alive for 69. I was alive for 2015, but… that loss for the Cubs was more of a beginning than an end; thankfully I was right. Honestly, I would have liked to see the Tigers get there; that was a nice story. Even the Guardians… I mean, if Clase was anywhere near himself, they WOULD be there. Did the Yankees get lucky on their road to the Series? You could say that. The Padres and Mets were a lot tougher than the Royals and Guardians. None of that matters now though; mono y mono.
Two of the biggest payrolls going at it; is that why I’m mad? Maybe. These teams throwing money around when MY team stashes the cash under the mattress. Yeah, I am mad about that. The Cubs can spend just as much money as these assholes, but noooo. OK, so what’s the verdict? Am I watching or not? Maybe the better question would be: Am I betting on this series or not? Haha…
