October 15, 2016: May I Have Another

posted in: Cubs | 1

What a fricking game!  It’s been a while since I have been so exhausted after a win.  This was another game for the record books.  The Cubs won again in dramatic fashion in Game 1 of the NLCS.  Thank you sir, may I have another?

Maybe not…  I know beggars can’t be choosers, and if this is the only way the Cubs will win this postseason, I will take it every single time.  I’m just looking for an “easy” win.  My head and heart went through the ringer on Saturday night.  Honestly, it’s been going through the ringer since Game 3 of the NLDS.  Game 2 was probably the last stress less win.  Let me just slap myself… stop whining.  The Cubs are winning and all is good with the world.

I was starting to get frustrated.  It started with the Ethier home run.  A routine fly ball… hold up… it was like a pop up.  I can remember Harry Caray broadcasting, and now, I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt on this play; maybe it wasn’t because he had one too many Buds.  He would call a pop up off the bat, and the next thing you know, he would say it’s out of here.  I wish I could find that on YouTube.  I want to say he did that a handful of times.  Maybe I’m losing my mind.  When I saw that Ethier hit, there was no way I thought home run; neither did the Dodgers dugout.  They didn’t even react until the ball flew out of here; and then it was still a weird reaction.  That’s the wind blowing out at Wrigley; that should be no surprise to me.  Still, it pissed me off.

Then the fact the Cubs weren’t tacking on to their 2 run lead.  They did that a lot during the season; I loved it.  I guess I just needed to wait a little bit.  They did try to tack on in the 6th, when Joe pulled Lester for Soler.  It didn’t work, and I did not agree with that move.  Here I go again… second guessing Joe.  I did it in Game 3 of the NLDS; he showed me in Game 4 of the NLDS.  But pulling Lester, who had not been in any real trouble; yes, he did give up some hard hit balls, but he had settled in.  He only had 77 pitches.  We still only have that 2 run lead.  I didn’t like it.  And what the heck has Soler done since last postseason?  I’m almost thinking Szczur should be in his spot.  Anyways, we roll on.

Stress arises due to so many reasons such as: cialis without prescription overnight – Physical cause 1. Then the 8th inning came along, and the frustration boiled over.  I do not mind the move to bring in Chapman.  I didn’t like it in Game 3, but I was OK with it here.  This was the ball game.  There wasn’t just one runner on base.  They were loaded with nobody out, and some big guns coming up.  I’m of the opinion, bring Chapman in now, but then bring in Rondon later if need be.  Chapman came in and looked like he would save the day, striking out the first 2 batters.  Then the third one, lined a shot into center, and tied the game.  I threw my son’s book across the room.  My frustration boiled over.  I was so pissed… that didn’t last long.

This 8th inning turned out to be like the 9th inning vs San Fran; it was a little bit like Game 5 of LAD vs WAS.  I questioned Maddon earlier; I have to question Roberts here.  I love Joe, but sometimes, I think he makes the moves just to make them… but… listening to the postgame, he’s thinking of all kinds of things, all the angles, looking innings ahead in some cases.  If there is that much thought, although I don’t want to overthink it, I have to accept it.  Trust in Joe.  Has Roberts earned that same trust in LA?  First of all, he intentionally walked Heyward; that has to be a first.  I was shocked…. to pitch to Baez!!!!  It worked out, then he did it again.  He intentionally walked Coghlan, who came in to pinch hit; that has to be a first in his career!!!  Then Montero stepped to the plate.  He probably would have intentionally walked him, but there was no room for him.  By walking Heyward and Coghlan, he obviously wanted to avoid the left handed bat against Blanton.  If he felt so strongly about that, he should have brought in the lefty at the point, even though Contreras would have been brought in.  He came up one move short; Joe wins again.  Checkmate bitch!

Montero hit a ball into the night sky that brought the house down; it brought my house down.  I think I woke up the whole building… screaming, laughing, screaming, dancing.  My dog ran away, my son started crying… as soon as the ball was hit, I jumped up and started yelling.  It was a euphoric scream… a primal yell… that went on for a couple minutes.  I could not believe it.  I didn’t stop until Rondon gave up a run in the 9th.  I paused the celebration until that final out.  Oh yeah, and Dexter hit a home run too that inning; who the heck noticed that?  Haha…

I knew it wouldn’t be easy, and it hasn’t been, and I’m OK with that.  It’s like, I knew it would be this way, but I’m asking for it not to be?  That doesn’t make much sense.  My head and heart are ready for EVERY ounce of this… as long as it ends with a Cubs W.  What a start to the NLCS, and now, the only magic number that counts, is down to 7.  Are you ready for some more?  Would you like another?  Game 2 of the NLCS is Sunday night.  GO CUBS GO!!!!!!!!

WOW…the emotional roller coaster continues with our Cubs, but I would not expect or want it any other way! Lester pitched another good game and was pulled with another low pitch count. Cubs jumped on top early only to see the lead go away with Chapman on the mound. But you know what, the Cubs responded and in a huge way. Miggy blasted a SLAM into the night followed by a Dex solo shot. Cubs win game 1 8-4 and are only 7 away. Game 2 doesnt figure to be any easier with kershaw on the mound. Time to jump on top early like the Cubs did vs bum. How big would it be taking the first 2 in Wrigley??? Time to find out…
    Bleedin BLUE…Cubbie TRUE!
    GO CUBS GO!!!
    7W!
