October 12, 2016: The Escape

They escaped.  It was close… would have been really, really close had it gone to a Game 5.  It would have been ugly had we lost in that game.  They got lucky.  The San Francisco Giants avoided a Hate File.

It would have been more than just them.  I would have had to go after some of their players, like Connor Gillaspie for starters… and I’m still not spell checking his name.  Another guy who just woke up one day, the wild card game vs the Mets, and decided to start hitting like that other guy from last year on the Mets… that guy we may see this year in Washington.  Yeah, that guy.  To make things worse, this guy was an ex-Sox player.  It’s worse in a couple aspects.  First one being Sox fans kicking themselves for letting him go; although he may have never gotten this opportunity in the postseason had he stood with the Sox.  It would have been worse on the other hand, because that population of Sox fans would have gotten an extra kick out of it, to see one of their own, help take out the hated Cubs.  I would have ripped this guy a new one… but now, he’s safe.

So is Joe Panik.  Heck, when Richard Panik scored that first goal for the Blackhawks yesterday, I would have been mad.  Are they related?  Who knows, who cares.  The name Panik is off the hook right now, cause you know what, if we were playing in Game 5, that other spelling of Panik would have engulfed us.  Let’s be happy again that we’re not.

And what about that number one cheerleader for the Giants… Law, that guy who was waving the towel for multiple innings in Game 3.  The guy who came in fired up and shut us down in Game 3, fist pumping coming off the mound.  Yeah, him.  Well, he was part of the Giant meltdown, which was good.  I was ready to wrap that towel around his neck.  Same for Romo… yelling some stuff at Baez after striking him out on Monday; Zobrist got him back good Tuesday.

So yeah, no Hate File for the Giants.  They escaped.  I’m surprised they aren’t already on my list for 1989… but I guess since we beat them in 1998 to get into the playoffs, and now eliminated them in epic fashion this year, they have been cleared.  Heck, I even wore orange and black to work today in memory of them.  This color combination would have never been worn otherwise; I may have burned this orange shirt I have on.

There is always a possibility they make the list one day.  Maybe I drag 1989 back up, maybe they do something to us next year or the year after or the year after.  My hate is quick towards teams who beat my teams, especially the Cubs.  Maybe I wouldn’t be like that so much for the Cubs if so many teams haven’t brought us pain.  Maybe I wouldn’t be that way for the Cubs if they would win a World Series.  Maybe I wouldn’t be like that to any team if that happens… OK, let’s not push it.

So the hate for the Giants is gone, with no official recording of it.  These feelings are ready to transfer to the winner of Thursday’s Game 5.  I’m ready to watch; anxious to see who the opponent will be.  Let’s go  ?????  Either way, I have to like our chances next round; although I said the same thing in last year’s NLCS.  This year will be different… well, it will be a different opponent at least.  Bring it on baby, bring it on!!!

Couple no names kept the giants in that series. Isnt that how it usually happens? Every team needs that 1 or 2 guys who do the unexpected in the playoffs to help their team. Baez was that guy for the Cubs in the nlds. Who will it be in the nlcs? Just glad the Cubs will be able to find out. Ended that elimination streak at 10…pretty impressive, though. Time to move ahead vs the nats or the dodgers…bring it either way!
    GO CUBS GO!!!
