9 games into the NBA season and the Bulls sit at 3-6. Let’s just be honest: they’re lucky to be there. The Bulls are a bad team. Even when a team like the Phoenix Suns try to hand the game to the Bulls like on Wednesday night at the UC, the Bulls simply won’t take it. When the Bulls ran it back with basically the same team, I said we would be stupid to expect better; I said we’re basically going to get the same 500 team that may or may not make the play-in game, that may or may not win one. Well, I’m going to take it a step further. This Bulls team will be worse than last year; I really can’t see this season going any other way. Thus, whether you like it or not, now is the time for the Bulls blow up; it can’t happen soon enough. This should have been done already, but here we are. One game into this season, and there’s already a players only meeting… really? How stupid we look. When thinking about a blow up, I try to think of one player on this team I would like to stay; I do like some of the guys. Yet, I don’t think anybody should be off limits, and that goes for the coach too. Get the most you can for whoever you can… now. OK, let’s begin.
Let’s start at the top of the food chain with the Bulls “Big 3”, which should probably be called the “Mid 3” if we’re being honest. Zach Lavine… that was a mistake. 10 years in, and he’s the same guy; he will NEVER be a number one, and honestly, we’re stretching it to call him a #2. He’ll be a fine #3 for some team willing to pay him a max deal; is there anybody that stupid out there? Zach will give you some nice treys, hit some tough shots, and a nice dunk every now and then. Couple that with his unforced stupid ass shots, his nowhere to be seen in the clutch gene, his yelling every time he goes to the cup, his lukewarm defense, and his patented jog back down the court whatever the result was… yeah, get his ass out of here. DeMar DeRozan… love him, but… his time has passed. Does he have a little left in the tank? Sure, but even that’s drying up, based on his last second miss on Wednesday night. No need to negotiate a new deal for DD; he has been great for us, but now, let someone else overpay him for his golden years. I’m sure a playoff team would be happy to add him in-season. Vooch… well, he’s been shooting more in the paint, which is what we’ve been asking for for years, but… he’s like everybody else on this team… we’re telling them to shoot more treys… smdh. Vooch is a double double king, but he’s also a turnstile on defense, who is rarely in position for an offensive rebound. He can definitely be of use to some team; let him go, let him go…
I think this blow up is going to take more than one blog. We covered the mid-3; now we need to look at the rest of the roster. We may have to throw in a Bears game summary next, but we’ll be back… maybe the Bulls will make a move before then? Not likely, but a guy can wish, right? Go Bulls…
