No, this is not about the Cubs. They were favorites all along, and came out on top. This isn’t about any other big sporting upset, which we’re usually fans of, unless of course it happens to our team. I wouldn’t call Hillary “my team”, but I did vote for her; I guess we weren’t ready for the first woman president. Donald Trump pulled off a huge upset and will be the next president of the United States.
I don’t write a lot about things other than Chicago sports, because honestly, I’m no expert. I am an expert, or at least have an educated opinion, in Chicago sports; don’t think so… that’s fine too. I will never claim to be an expert about politics, but wow! I’m completely shocked that the face of our country will now be the face of Donald Trump. Ouch.
He is not a politician. Some may say that is a good thing… quick question for those people: would you be comfortable with me doing some dental work on your mouth? It reminds me of those Holiday Inn commercials… The guy looks up who is about to get his tooth pulled or whatever, and asks are you a dentist? The response was no… but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night. Being a good businessman doesn’t equal being a good politician. Being an “expert” at Chicago sports doesn’t mean that you can play any sport well. We have nominated somebody with no experience at this. And now, he will be “leading” our country. At least Hillary knows politics… Doesn’t mean she would be a great president either, but it certainly gives her a leg up in my opinion. Kind of like how the White Sox hired Robin Ventura to be their manager with no experience… how’d that work out? Well, at least the Donald is a good person…
I’m kidding of course. He wants to “Make America Great Again” as long as you are not an immigrant, not gay, don’t have any other religious beliefs, or don’t have any disabilities? Maybe it’s just talking crap, kind of like most of us used to do when we were teenagers, but really, this is who our president is? A guy who is cool because he can deliver good burns by making people feel bad about themselves? I thought making America great would mean getting everybody on the same page… working together… can’t we all just get along? America IS great because of all our differences. We just need to respect each other; take the lead from the Donald.

And who ever said America was so bad, that we have to make it great “again”? Is America so bad because that’s all you see on the news, or on Facebook, or on Twitter? Is it so bad because that’s what the media pushes? How bad is your life really? Mine is fine. America seems pretty great to me. Do we have problems? Of course. There are definitely things that should be cleaned up, but nothing, NOTHING that makes me feel like our country is not great right NOW.
I fear that he will alienate us. He will alienate us both on the world front and domestically amongst ourselves. Who will respect us now? Who will our allies be? Russia? Really? And then at home… now all this hate that he has promoted… will that force us to quarrel among ourselves? Will that force us to not like anybody that doesn’t look or think like us? It’s a bit scary…
But… what’s done is done. Realistically, he will not deliver on any of his promises, just like most candidates. There will be people that will continue to rip him, and eventually, that will include a percentage of his supporters, when he doesn’t live up to his promises. We’ve seen this movie before. He IS our president; I’ll support him… at the very least, pray for the best. Hey, maybe he’ll pull another upset and actually do something good. But regardless, at the end of the day, it really shouldn’t matter WHO our president is. It’s really about US. It’s about the people to make America however it’s going to be. Maybe this whole thing will be a wake up call to us all. It’s not right to treat each other badly. We should all get along. We all need to respect each other. WE, not anybody else, need to make US great. It’s time to get going on that… now is as good a time as any…

Congrats and best of luck Trump! You will need it, but you deserve the opportunity to make things happen…that is the great thing about America, democracy. Campaigns, debates, speeches, and all the other nonsense is done. Time to heal America and bring us together as a unified people! Trump is now the leader of the strongest nation on Earth…time to act like it and make good on making America great for all!

And why is “not a politician” a bad thing? How do you get to be a politician? You start by being good at some profession, build up a reputation, decide to run for an office, and if your lucky, get voted in by the people. Well, here’s another example of that exact scenario. Hell, Jimmy Carter was initially a peanut farmer! I’m sure that list could go on, but the point is that he needs to be given a chance. He is a very successful businessman, is used to making big decisions, and is not used to losing money. This country has been run into near financial ruin by ‘politicians’. So, apparently just the fact that you have been a politician does not make you any more qualified to run the country. If he doesn’t do a good job, he’ll be no worse than any number of past presidents who were actual ‘politicians’. If he ends up doing a good job, all those marchers, and rioters, and pre-haters should be publicly shamed. What other country would allow you people to march and disrupt traffic and cause mayhem just about any time you don’t like something? And to all these people who have come out and said they would leave the country if Trump wins, BUH-BYE,,,DON’T LET THE BORDER KICK YOU IN THE ASS as you leave!!!!!!!

See Robin Ventura. You don’t get your experience at the highest level. Wasn’t jimmy carter a disaster as president? Donald is a slime ball, but he will get his chance. Good luck to us all!
