November 8, 2024: Week 10 Preview Bears vs Patriots

posted in: Bears | 0

If last week was an important game to win… This week, in a Super Bowl XX rematch, the Bears host the Patriots at Soldier Field. Good news: the Bears are not on the road. I didn’t realize it was THAT bad… geez. And to have it be THAT good at home lately… what gives? Anyways, IF the Bears cannot beat this patsy ass Patriots team… I think drastic measures should be taken, like firing Eberflus and/or Waldron on the spot. Hopefully we can avoid that, at least for another couple weeks.

You see, after this week, it gets real. 6 division games, 1 vs the Niners, and our only “easy game” left against the Seahawks at home on the day after Christmas. The schedule has been relatively mild thus far. To be 4-4 thus far… I would have liked to have 5 wins at this point at the very least. Not to say the Bears can’t/won’t win any of the remaining games after this week, but… to think we could go above 500 the rest of the year, may be a stretch; it’s only year one of Caleb. As we know, it’s not only the fact that we’ve lost the last 2 games, but it’s the way we’ve lost them. It kind of reminded me of Game 6 & Game 7 of the NLCS back in 2003. The dramatic Game 6 loss and the predictable Game 7 fold that followed. The way that fluke play against the Commanders went down seemed to deflate this team; I was hoping that wasn’t the case. Has Eberflus lost the locker room? As I mentioned earlier this week, this just doesn’t happen in 2 weeks. IF that’s the case, then something’s been brewing for a while, so… I don’t necessarily believe that, but can’t rule it out either. The Bears SHOULD smash this team, but do I really trust them? Certainly can’t trust them to win by margin aka win by the required more than 6 points to cover the spread. I don’t care if I miss the boat on this one and we win by 40; I’d be happy, trust me. But something tells me this will be an ugly one…

Final Score Prediction: Bears 20 Patriots 18

Ace in the Hole: Defense holding the Patriots to 6 FGs

At the end of the day, I don’t care how ugly it may be… just win. Winning cures all. Will winning this game automatically turn Eberflus into Andy Reid? No. Will a good offensive performance turn Waldron into an offensive genius? No. Will the Bears be able to win long term with these two men in those two positions??? Waldron has just started… Eberflus, well, he’s been around, and if it wasn’t for the defensive performance down the stretch last year… But Hard Knocks told us everything was on the up and up… Get a win. Win a game and go from there. At home against one of the worst teams in the league… Bear Down!
