Did you see the latest from Old Man James? Yes, on Monday night in Miami, the Lakers had a chance to win it. The ball was in Lebron’s hands. He drove to the basket. And… he passed it… yes, to a wide open shooter, who is a horrible three point shooter, who missed the shot; game over. The knock on James is the same. He is afraid to take the big shot, and would prefer to “make the right basketball play”. It’s not like he’s never made one before; he has. Sure, many of these “big shots” were layups or close to them, but he has made big shots away from the bucket. Thing is though… after all these years; he is still afraid to lose… he is afraid to miss the big shot. He’d rather pass than take the shot to win the game. He is still a great player, no doubt, but… he’s not on that tier, sorry.
Then, then… he goes to Twitter to complain about the officiating. Really? The gall of that dude. The Lakers got more calls than anybody last year, and by a wide, wide margin. It was flat out ridiculous, but you want to complain about the refs? He is who he is; he will get preferential treatment whether you like it or not. The fact that he had the balls to STILL complain about the refs… well, he’s above the law, let’s just say that. This public complaint, will probably get even more calls the Lakers’ way, or at the very least, throw everyone off the scent that the Lakers get an unfair advantage with the refs.
Anyways, I’m not here to rag on Lebron; I’ve done that plenty of times, and don’t get me wrong, I’m always up for a good LeBron bashing, but… he’s getting old; is it time we just start to appreciate his “greatness” before he’s gone? Well, what’s your definition of greatness I guess? His longevity is impressive. He will be included in the top X list of NBA players of all time. What’s your X? I’m comfortable with 20 being my X. How much longer will he play? Well, how much longer before the PEDs start to wear off? OK, cheap shot, but true no? Anyways, he is still in great shape, with or without help; I know he wants to play with his son. Hopefully his son is OK. He really has no trademark shot; he’s really not known for greatness with one team. He’s more known for team hopping and “helping” shape these new teams. I don’t know… How long will we remember this guy? There are enough crazy Taylor Swift like fans of this guy… the media is all about him… but only true greatness lasts over time. Even with the crazy LBJ fans, even with all the people that did not see MJ play game in game out, Jordan is still voted the greatest, and it’s not close. So…
Now that he’s on the Lakers, I can’t think of one little reason why I’d root for him; I don’t want the Lakers, and for that matter, the Celtics to win again; throw in the Warriors while we’re at it. But any team LeBron plays on makes it worse for that team in my book. I thought I wasn’t here to rag on LeBron… I can’t help it. OK, time to get ready for a Thursday night Bears game…
