November 5, 2024: Biggest Decision Ever

Tuesday November 5, 2024 brought us our biggest decision ever. Who should we bet on in the “Return of the MAC” weekday college football games on ESPN? What, was there something more important going on? Regardless of “that more important result”, nothing changes; don’t get it twisted. I’m still waking up tomorrow (God willing), doing what I have to do for me and my family; that will never stop being THE most important thing. And if your person won or lost, have no fear; the sun will come out tomorrow. And if that person you didn’t want is our next president, just think of it like I used to with Jay Cutler when he was on the Bears. Sure, I didn’t like the guy, but he was OUR QB… so I had to support him, even if that “support” meant hoping he didn’t F up too badly while waiting until the day he wasn’t our QB any longer. We were here before, and we will still be here after. Suck it up, or start your candidacy now for 2028, or sticking locally, the 2026 campaign when that other “Jay Cutler” will no longer be at the helm of our city. OK enough of that.

OK, seriously, who should we have bet on in the 2 games on Tuesday night. The first game involved Central Michigan; I stood away from this one. The main reason is because from listening to some of “my guys”, I was hearing about a lot of funny business going on in the games involving the Chippewas. And lo and behold… Central Michigan scored a “meaningless” TD with under 2 minutes left in the game to cover the spread. Papa Vegas is good, real good. No, for me, it was the other MAC game that I zoned in on. It was Miami Ohio at Ball State; the Redhawks were a 12 point favorite. I took the dog, or should I say the Cardinals? I actually got to watch a little of this game, before fading out for a bit; bringing a daily nap into American culture should be the top priority for our new president. I did wake up and watch most of the game. Was a little shaky at halftime, but have no fear… Ball State covered like champs, only losing by 6 points. Is this the start of breaking out of my slump?

There was no NBA action on Tuesday night, which was fine by me; it gave me time to dive into a game on Wednesday night. I’m going to be digging a bit more into the handicapping of each game. This will mean less games to bet on, unless I quit my job and can spend all day doing all the games, but that’s OK. I’ll be tinkering with “my system” that I will hope to fine tune enough to turn a profit on this here thing. I had started working on the skeleton of it earlier this year, but I didn’t follow through… half assing it is what I’ve been doing; that works for a little bit. So now, let me put my whole ass into it, and see what happens. Maybe I get smacked; it won’t be a smooth process… there will be kinks to work out, but… when the dust settles, hoping to be in a much better place; hoping that by getting to the root of it all, the pure handicapping of a game, things will start to trend upwards. Good luck to me. And oh yeah, btw, my first “system” play for Wednesday night is Charlotte -2 over Detroit. Let’s go Bobcats!
