November 5, 2019: Rough Days

It feels like winter is here already…  With the Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks all doing so well, it feels like the rough days are only beginning.

I’ve tried not to listen to too much Bears talk; I really haven’t read much besides headlines of articles here and there.  Trubisky, Nagy, the offense… it’s hard to understand why after last year, that side of the ball has taken a huge step backwards.  Do we miss Jordan Howard?  I don’t think that’s it.  The inability to run the ball effectively has hurt; the lack of commitment to the run is frustrating.  Montgomery hasn’t looked that bad, if he gets somebody to block for him.  That’s it too, isn’t it?  I thought the OL, after last year, coming back intact again this year, would take a step forward.  That hasn’t happened either.  It all starts on the line, on both sides of the ball.  The defense is definitely missing Mr. Hicks.  And the offense isn’t able to do crap without decent pass or run blocking.  I’m not even going to mention our tight ends, although I did get a laugh the other day.  The Bears wished Trey Burton Happy Birthday on Twitter… man, you should have seen the responses.  He’s still on the team?  Trade him for his birthday?  Waste of money.  Sadly, it’s all true.  Burton, and for that matter, Shaheen haven’t done crap either.  It’s a total shit show on the offensive side of the ball.  It really has been downright offensive.

The Bulls flipped the script and were kicking the Lakers’ ass for three quarters on Tuesday night at the UC.  Then it happened; they crumbled, and lost in ugly, ugly fashion to LA.  Sure, nobody expected them to win this game, but after being up 19 points… there’s no way we should have gave that one away.  But that’s been the Bulls MO this year; blowing games late.  I was pissed.  Of course I sat down and watched the 4th quarter.  I can’t stand LeBron, and you know what, screw Anthony Davis too.  Teasing Chicago fans with the possibility of coming here next year; then he backtracks on it.  He’s full of crap… running to LA to try to carry Lebron to another title.  Wanting out of his team in New Orleans; what’s up with these dudes?

Then there was the Blackhawks in San Jose last night.  I called it quits shortly into the 2nd period.  Man, did they look bad on offense too.  They generated absolutely nothing.  I did see they scored goals late, but it was still another loss.  Unfortunately, we’re getting used to this.  The Blackhawks, who I deduced would be our only hope this year, aren’t helping that statement.  I think we got nothing…

It’s going to be a long, cold winter.  We already had snow in October.  We already have taken ones on the chin in every sport.  There is little to grab onto at this moment.  We can only hope for a turnaround, for somebody, anybody…  If we don’t see something soon, we’ll have to start the countdown to Opening Day.  Yes, I miss baseball, but it’s too soon for that… much too soon.  Come on guys…
