The Bears did what they had to do; they beat the hapless Buffalo Bills in their own place.  They really beat them down.  I’m still not used to this.  I remember when they beat the crap out of the Bucs; I didn’t know how to act.  Similarly this Sunday, as the Bears exerted their will early in the game, and as they extended their lead, I was kind of lost.  How do we act when the Bears are kicking ass?

That should be easy; enjoy the hell out of it.  All the beatings we’ve sustained over the years, it’s great to be on the other side of it.  I mean, I felt kind of bad for Peterman…no I didn’t.  He doesn’t belong in the NFL, although I will give him one thing; he stood in that game and took that beating like a man.  And Papa Vegas even threw him a bone and let them get in the end zone for the over to hit, in an obvious, heavily bet under situation.  These refs were awful though, right?

It was good to see the Bears run the ball with Howard too.  I still think that’s going to be important.  When the games get bigger, and the pressure mounts on this offense and its young QB, what better way to take the edge off then successfully running the ball.  Line up in running formations and pound the rock; man did Howard run over that guy.  I know the great offensive mind of Nagy isn’t that simple, but you have to be versatile.  Use the entire playbook Matt; keep helping Mitch run this offense.  Put him in a spot to be successful; it wasn’t hard to do this game.

More than the offense though, it was the defense.  Wow did they dominate, and all without Mack.  I saw a guy, number 40 something out there getting sacks.  Mack would have killed him.  So smart that we’ve rested him the last two weeks; I hope he’s ready to go now.  And then there’s big play Eddie Jackson at it again; he is good.  Even Leonard Floyd reached pay dirt.   Fuller actually caught a ball this week too!  It was as complete an effort that I’ve seen from the Bears defense in a long time.   I don’t care how bad the Bills are; we did what we were supposed to.

Now it sets up for the divisional games the next 3 weeks.  At 5-3, if we can get two of the next three, we’ll be at 7-4.  With the Giants and Niners still on the schedule, you got to think 9 wins is looking good.  With the remaining teams being the Packers, Rams, and Vikings in Minnesota, even if we only get one of those three, that’s 10 wins!   That’s playoffs right?

One week at a time; next up is Detroit in Soldier Field.  Have you checked the ticket prices lately?  Yeah, you could kind of say we’ve been waiting for this.  So you think the Bears are getting fat from beating bad teams?  We’ll see.  If that’s true, then dial up another one next Sunday.  Bear Down!

Thank you, next! What a dominating performance! I missed the earlier one in the year vs the bucs, but I caught all of this one, and damn does it feel good! After so many years of being on the other end of things, it does feel weird when the Bears return the favor, but definitely a good weird! I feel sorry for no team, not even the hapless bills. Howard needs that rock more. Line up in the I and pound it but keep mixing it up, too. The D was outstanding! So many guys had good games. EJack has been great, what a good pick he has been. How about Roquan? Man, he was all over the field…13 tackles and a forced fumble that got returned to the house! He is an animal. DannyT has been good, there was a Floyd sighting, Fuller played good and actually caught one, Hicks (aka donut) dominates, and Amos even made some plays. Love what the D is doing right now. The Bears are 5-3 at the midpoint. 8 games remain to decide playoffs or not. 3 big games in a row vs the lions and vikes. 10 wins should definitely get the Bears in, but stranger things have happened, so let’s go for a 6-2 finish to end with 11. The Bears are getting fat beating bad teams the last 2 weeks…so be it, not their fault. They can only beat who is on their schedule. Keep getting fatter vs the lions, including on Turkey Day, where we all will be getting fatter! BEAR DOWN!!!
