November 30, 2022: The Price to Pay

posted in: Bears | 0

It’s just not the same… this week… Bears Packers. After the Roquan trade, after the losses that followed, after it became crystal clear that the Bears did not want to win any more this year, the season, well… it feels like it’s over. I don’t look forward to Sundays quite the same way any more, even more so now, that Fields is out. Last week’s game against the Jets, had like, preseason interest, but… this is the price to pay right? It’s like, the payment of dues, to finally have a QB? This is what we have to endure for a bright future? It doesn’t seem right, but at the end of the day, is why, I guess, I’m OK with it… what other choice do I have? I can’t ever remember a season, for all intensive purposes, being over so soon; we’ve been robbed of a good portion of the NFL season. It doesn’t feel good.

Right about now, my hate for the Packers would be bubbling up to the surface. It’s always there, don’t get me wrong, but Bears Packers week?!?! Yeah, I’m ready to kill… haha. I remember all the BS over the years from the cheesy side of things. I think about how bad I want to win this game. I remember being told by some, that they would be fine if the Bears went 2-14, as long as those 2 wins were over the Pack. I knew we were wanting to lose as much as possible this year, but I still wanted to beat the Lions at home; I mean… it’s the Lions for God’s sake. That didn’t happen. Even more so here… it’s the Packers!!! Of course I want to see them lose; of course I want the Bears to win. It’s just… hard to get fired up this time… because I know, that losing is what we want to do; it’d probably be the best thing for us. That is hard to swallow. Considering the Packers may even be on that same wavelength… the losing is better thought… makes this week even weirder. Then Fields AND Rodgers may not play?!?! Does this game even really count?

I’ll tell you what though. Besides the development of Fields, which is what we essentially mortgaged this year for… I mean, we are willing to accept the shit season because of what Fields showed us; we actually have a QB guys!!! Besides this, the best thing about this NFL season is to see the Packers flounder; holy shit does that feel good. I always say I’d choose a Bears win over anything; this is true. However, if the Bears wins aren’t there, the next best thing is a Packers loss. You see their record??? The Packers are 4-8!!! That’s 8 very happy weeks thanks to the Packers playing like absolute dog crap. Yeah, the Packers, who still have a HOF QB, can barely win a game this year… woo hoo, that’s about as sweet as it gets.

So yeah, it’s not the same, but I still want the Bears to beat the Packers. Am I willing to trade a better draft pick, in multiple rounds next year, for one, little old win over the struggling Packers? That’s a good question, but I say YES. I say beat them and let the chips fall where they may. If we lose, our draft position gets stronger; that’s a nice backup plan. But beating the Pack… that will always be one of the most important things in any season. If that sounds meatballish, oh well, get over it. It’s the truth. They are in our division, our conference; they are our rivals. To get to where we want to get to, it most likely will involve beating them, so… yeah, and I know this year is over; can we just get one more win before losing out? Bear Down!!!
