November 30, 2018: Week 12 Preview Bears at Giants

posted in: Bears | 0

Here we go again.  This is a potential trap game.  Will the Bears overlook an opponent?  The Giants have been hot.  Watch out for Odell and Saquon.  What will we do without Trubisky?  I even heard somebody on a national sports show say this Bears defense isn’t great…  Well, at 8-3, I guess I’m tired of asking dumb questions and worrying about other teams…

Yeah, we haven’t won crap yet, I get it, and I’m not cocky, but at this point in the season, my confidence is at an all time high… that doesn’t mean the Bears won’t ever lose again this year, or maybe it does…  Papa Vegas gets it.  Bears are a favorite again, on the road, with their backup QB, by 4 points.  Act accordingly.

Forget about the trap game.  When I said at the beginning of the season that there will be no easy games, I wasn’t exactly right, but… I do see this Bears team taking every single opponent seriously.  I don’t see this team looking past anybody; they need to keep that mentality.  Again, we have won nothing yet.  As far as the Giants or any other team for that matter, I don’t care.  Another important concept besides taking things a week at a time, and not overlooking opponents, is worrying about ourselves.  We play our game.  We dictate.  That’s something I haven’t liked about the previous coaches…. among other things; we tried to change our gameplan, at times moving away from our strengths, because of the other team…. letting them dictate the way the game goes.  No, we play our game; if we play our game, then we have a very good chance of winning.  That’s how we roll.

Now I’m not saying we don’t pay attention to other guys on our opponent.  Sure, Barkley and OBJ are pretty good in their own right; Fangio said all the right things this week.  We don’t want to give another team billboard material.  It’s going to take a total team effort on defense to neutralize these guys, no doubt.  But again, that’s how we roll.  You think Saquon is going to go off?  You think OBJ wants to go across the middle against us?  Good luck with that.

And how about Chase Daniel starting his 2nd game in a row?  He’s not Mitch, that’s for sure… but that’s OK.  He got the job done in Detroit.  He made enough throws… he didn’t lose the game for us.  That’s all we’re really asking from him.  Make some plays, don’t do anything stupid, and we should be walking away with another win.  After all, yes I love this offense Nagy and Mitch are running for us, but at the end of the day, it’s the defense that is our bread and butter.

Final Score Predictor:  Bears 27 Giants 17

Ace in the Hole:  Tarik Cohen 100+ yds from scrimmage and 2 TDs

Let’s lean on our most explosive player on offense to make things happen in the open field.  Let the defense eat.  Let’s get another win and keep that division lead.  Bear Down!!!
