November 3, 2022: Back to Back Zach

posted in: Bulls | 0

The Bulls started the month of November with wins over the Nets and Hornets on consecutive nights. More importantly, we saw back to back Zach. Lavine played in consecutive games for the first time in this young season, which was a positive development from the whole left knee management thing. Maybe I’ve been overreacting; maybe I should just be patient. Maybe Zach will play the majority of the time this season, which is very important to the Bulls consistently stacking Ws. Maybe the management of his knee will soon be over. Maybe.

Zach went off at the end of the Brooklyn game; he lit it up in the 4th quarter for a total of 20 points as the Bulls sealed the deal. Brooklyn is kind of a train wreck. Fresh off their coach leaving them/being pushed out, the Nets have decided to pursue the recently canned Celtics coach; you can’t make this stuff up. Then there’s flat earth Kyrie… that’s a whole other story; what a joke. I know Cleveland will always appreciate him for carrying them to their only title… I’m guessing his days are numbered in Brooklyn, and potentially in the NBA, if he keeps this up. Maybe his performance on the court will dictate that too… 2 for 12 in this game, he was just flat out horrible. Besides the 29 from Lavine, the Bulls got double digits from Williams, DD, Ayo, and Dragic; it was a well balanced performance. When the Bulls play like that, they will be tough to beat.

The next night at home against Charlotte, the Bulls had 6 guys in double digits. Amazingly enough, DD was not one of them. Lavine barely broke it with 10 points. A combined 19 from DD and Zach and the Bulls cruised??? This is good news. Williams, Vooch, Jones Jr, Dragic, and Javonte all hit double digit point totals. Javone was perfect on the evening, going 7-7 from the field, including 3-3 from three point land. The Hornets were without their Ball, which actually hurts them more than us being without ours, but no matter; the Bulls need to beat the teams on their schedule, especially at the UC.

The Bulls are now 5-4 and in the 6th seed in the way too early look at the Eastern Conference standings; you know the Bucks are still undefeated at 7-0??? The Cavs are right behind them at 6-1. The Bulls will get a rematch with the Celtics on Friday night, this time in Boston. We surprisingly beat them last time; can we double up? From there we’ll head to Toronto for a Sunday matchup with the Raptors. Certainly a 1-1 result from this weekend’s tough road games would be acceptable. We’ll be tuning in.

Will Lavine play in both games? It was great to see him go in a back to back scenario for the first time this year. Obviously, the Bulls are a much better team with Zach on the court. For the Bulls to get back to the postseason, we’ll need our newly minted max player at his best, on the court, as much as possible. Go Bulls!!!
