The Bulls Herky Jerky season continued on Monday night in Utah; this time it was good news. Yep, the Bulls took out the Jazz 114-107. Beating good teams, losing to not so good teams… this is the way of the 2022 Bulls thus far; is it better than the alternative? I mean, the Bulls are actually beating good teams this year, something that was rare last year. Losing to bad teams is not good, but beating the good teams… maybe they HAVE improved?
I passed out; I didn’t even see the end of the game. The last I remember, the Bulls were up by a few points, and Lauri had just recorded his 30th point of the game. Here we go again… ex-Bulls playing their best ball against us. Did we make a mistake shipping Lauri like we did with Wendell? I liked Lauri; he did seem soft, with moments of aggression… kind of like Vooch. But the biggest problem was that Boylen ruined him by trying to turn him into a spot up shooter. Still, I don’t mind (that much) if they’re doing well, I just hate to see them do well against US. Any more ex-Bulls on the horizon? Oh wait, is Cam Payne still on the Suns, our opponent on Wednesday night? That dude…
When I woke up, I had a text message which told me the result of the game: “Bulls W in Utah like the good old days” Yes brother, those WERE the good old days, and winning in Utah was definitely a part of them. The Flu Game in the 97 Finals, the last shot/game in the 98 Finals are the two biggest that come to mind. The Jazz had a great home court advantage, and a HOF duo in Malone and Stockton; we had Jordan though, and that was the difference. If it wasn’t for MJ, the Jazz may have won a title; same can be said for most good teams/great players in the 90s… bad timing. I welcome any reason to think about MJ and the 90s Bulls…
But back to Zach, I mean, DeRozan and the 2022 Bulls. Which team will show up next? Phoenix is the #1 team in the West, and since we beat the top 2 teams in the East in Boston and Milwaukee, I guess we should count on a W Wednesday night in the desert? Who knows… I certainly can’t predict how this team will do. I do know they’ll have to be better, any way, any how. At 9-11, the Bulls are outside of the “way too early to look” playoff picture in the East; yes, even the 10 team extended playoff picture. The Bulls are sitting at #12 out of 15 teams… that just pisses me off. Plenty of time to right the ship; getting some more wins on the road this week will help.
And yes, Cam Payne IS still on the Suns. He’s averaging 13.3 ppg, which is good for 4th on the team; that is just mind boggling. And although I don’t know how the Bulls team will play, I do know that Payne will have one of the best games of the season thus far; anybody bet on player props? Take the over on Payne’s points for this one; hope I’m wrong. Go Bulls!
