As this season has played out, and the Bears plan has become clear, I’ve reached a current state of content; at this point, I’m not expecting anything else from this season, other than more losses. I think the Bears will continue to fulfill that expectation this week in New York vs the Jets.
Fields is not going to play; I don’t care what anybody says. This injury, like I called weeks ago, is going to keep him out, maybe for the rest of the year, pending the performance by the rest of the top of the draft board. Eberflus cracked me up this week with a comment; it went something like this: the decision for Justin to play doesn’t depend on our current record… it would be made based on the same factors if we were 8-3 vs our current 3-8. Wow… that’s complete BS; it 110% is based on our record. If the Bears were 8-3, Fields would be suiting up in New York; as it stands today, there is no way possible. Don’t blow smoke up our ass. We see what it is, even if it took a while to recognize that this season. Fields getting hurt, this type of minor injury to his non-throwing shoulder, at this point in the season, plays into the Bears plan of attacking the top draft pick perfectly. Who will be our QB again? Exactly!
Speaking about QBs, the Jets have made a move; the MILF hunter will be on the bench after his Bears-esque performance last week. How many times have we seen our QBs register those type of games? More than I can count. Some other dude will be under center, but it doesn’t matter. This game is the perfect time for the Jets to make this move; I’m sure their backup will do just fine. Meanwhile, the Jets defense will feast on our QB. I’m expecting a lot of running today; I’m sure the Jets are right there with me. 8-9 in the box all game long, and it’s going to be a long day, which again, is just what we want.
Final Score Prediction: Jets 30 Bears 10
Ace in the Hole: Ryan Poles plan of moving up the draft board gets more help
The downside of this plan for the Bears is the fact that my interest in the remainder of the season is way down; I’m not going to say it’s like the preseason completely, because I will still watch the rest of the games… they still do count in the standings, but… what else do I have to watch for, especially if Fields is on the shelf the rest of the year? OK, maybe he’ll come back for a game or two, and regardless, I’ll still be watching, but… in a different frame of mind. I can’t get too hyped up, hoping for a Bears win, like I do every week of every NFL season; I’m going into the game expecting a loss… it’s a weird place to be, but that is the current reality; embrace it and you too, will reduce the stress in your life. Bear Down!
