OK, want to get this out of the way, before Thanksgiving hits. It’s bad enough we’ll have to watch the Bears play on national TV again, this time on a national holiday. Normally, I would look forward to this; who am I kidding… I still look forward to it, just like I do every Bears game, but… what has become of this season, what is going on inside Halas Hall, what could potentially be our 6th loss in a row, which would be the Lions first victory of the season… ugh! I don’t want to spoil my turkey!
The Bears are favored in Detroit by 3 points. The Bears will have Andy Dalton at QB. How you feeling? It’s more than that right? The whole Matt Nagy stuff going on; Jesus Christ. It’s bad enough everybody across the city is chanting “Fire Nagy” at sporting events, but now reports are circulating that Thursday will be his last game coached regardless of outcome… and oh yeah, the decision to start Justin Fields came from George McCaskey and NOT Matt Nagy… What a fricking mess. But this is the Bears no? Besides not being able to find a franchise QB for 8 decades (and counting… hoping Fields is that guy, but until then, it’s counting…), the coaching carousel hasn’t exactly been great either. We think of George Halas; yes! We think of Mike Ditka; yes! We think of… I wasn’t a huge fan of Lovie Smith, but… he’s the only guy since Ditka with an above 500 record… well him, and NAGY!!! Yes, Wannstedt, Jauron, Trestman, and Fox… B.R.U.T.A.L. overall. Nagy, with a 583 winning percentage, is actually better than Lovie per that measurement. Hey, I’m just going by the facts here… Facts also tell us that the Bears have made the playoffs 2 of the 3 years Nagy has been head coach… But he’s the problem, right?
Hey, at this point, whatever. I thought Pace should have been canned last year; he’s still here. I thought we should let Nagy coach this year, and then make a decision; are we at that decision point? Will firing Nagy make us a better team? If so, then do it. Will firing him mid-season help impact the rest of this season’s results? If so, then do it. I’m not totally convinced, although if we’re going by wins and losses THIS year, the year which I thought should be the determining factor if he stays or goes, then yeah, he should be gone. It feels inevitable; will Turkey Day 2021 be his last day as Bears coach?
Oh yeah, back to the game. I still have that feeling… that feeling that Detroit will get its first win of the season. Although if we’re talking facts… the Bears are 6-1 vs Detroit under Nagy, including 2-0 on Thanksgiving, so…

It will come down to Cairo, who we’ve absolutely ruined, forcing him to break his 40 kicks in a row by making him attempt an impossible 65 yard FG at the end of the Steelers game. He promptly went out and missed his next attempt last week vs Baltimore. I think he’s shot now… and will miss a potential 40 yard game winning field goal this week in Detroit, which will lead to me ripping a drum leg off the turkey and winging it at my TV… Happy Thanksgiving folks…
