Our last regular season game brought a rematch with the team we played in the first game of the season. If you remember, which I’m sure you don’t, we lost that one 22-0. We were shell shocked. I knew we’d do better this time around…
Unfortunately, we wouldn’t have a full roster. Our tallest kid would miss his 3rd straight game; not sure what the heck is going on there. I’m betting it’s on his parents, not wanting to bring him. I mean, you sign a kid up for a sport, pay money for that season, and then don’t bring him? What are you teaching him about commitment? Too much? I don’t think so. I get it; you may miss a game here or there due to other obligations, that happens. Yet, a text to the coach would be nice… It doesn’t surprise me though.
I remember back in the day at the Boys Club, when I was the team captain for my team. We’d get there early, see who we had for the night’s game. If we were short, we’d find out where the other kids lived, and walk to their houses to pick them up. Walking up into some strange apartment building, knocking on the door: “Is Alex home?” Most of the time they’d get ready; we’d wait. Then we’d all roll back to the Club to play our game. Not so easy nowadays… Figure a reminder text would do the trick… at least prompt a response. Oh well, enough venting.

There are numerous life situations that can lead to severe change in their sexual experience. on line cialisWe would only have 5 kids on this day. Even with a full roster we would have a tough time; we had to do it shorthanded. It didn’t start off well; 6-0 first quarter. I believe it was 16-0 at halftime. Our kids looked a bit shell shocked… again. They just didn’t believe we could beat this team. With a short roster, they were probably right… Yet, we would make a run. We would put up 9 points in the second half; they would put up 14. Still, it was something positive to take from this game. 30-9 would be the final. I was right; it wasn’t as bad… Half their points came off offensive rebounds. There were possessions when they would get 3-4 shots at a bucket from right there. They had the height; they took advantage. One of our girls, the 2nd tallest on the team behind the kid mentioned above, showed up in the 3rd quarter; better late than never I guess. She helped stopped the bleeding with the rebounds a bit, but it was too late by then.
We came full circle to end the season. At 2-8 and a 5th place finish out of 6 teams, I was happy to win the games we did. And yes, every team makes the playoffs. So most likely, if the standings hold, we will be facing this team again in our first round playoff match up. The strategy will depend on who shows up, but I have some ideas. Biggest thing is convincing these kids that they CAN beat them. If they can’t believe that, the result is already determined…
