What other reason is there to watch the now three games on Thanksgiving Day & Night? It used to be different.
Well, maybe not so different. The Lions have always sucked. There was the whole Barry Sanders era; he was must watch TV. Other than that, and of course if they were playing the Bears, their game was a snooze fest. Well, listening to Madden and Summerall was always soothing right before chomping down on some turkey. On this turkey day 2017, their game was the best of the bunch. It was the one game I saw a bit of.
Of course, I was watching specifically to see how my Vikings WR Stefon Diggs did. He was horrible until one of the last drives; he got me to double digits, which wasn’t such a bad start. Next up was the other team that we see every Thanksgiving, the Dallas Cowboys.
They’re always a big draw; not for me though. Back in the 90s, they were kings, but nowadays…they’re annually one of the most overrated teams in football. Without Elliott, they ain’t looking too good. They got spanked by the Chargers??? I was surprised to see that final, and was upset that Hunter Henry played a big part in it. I was now losing my fantasy matchup.
Finally, the nitecap, which was the 2nd consecutive game I didn’t watch one minute of, saw old rivals the Skins and GMen go at it. I heard I missed a real snoozefest. For the second week in a row, Engram didn’t do a damn thing. I did pick up Shaheen…time to make the switch? Maybe next week.

Worse than the horrible performance by Engram was the outstanding performance by Crowder; I was now officially in a boat load of trouble.
I was on my way to being the fantasy turkey, an award I just made up for the worst fantasy performance of the holiday. Not as cool an honor as what Madden used to present to the best player of the game… Hey, did you ever play in a turkey bowl?
I guess it’s pretty popular for a bunch of guys to play a little football Thanksgiving morning. I don’t recall ever doing that, probably because I hadn’t slept the night before like I just got done describing in the last blog. It would be a cool tradition to start with all the cousins… Touch or flag though, not tackle. Geez, I wonder how I would feel after getting tackled a few times. My body probably would be shot. I guess I’d do it though…as long as I didn’t break anything.
Hope you ate your hearts out and enjoyed a great time with your loved ones. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving football, both playing and watching, are 2 other yearly traditions. Watching intently only mattered when the Bears played, but the games are always on. The nfl added another money maker late game, but this year’s matchups were garbage. As for playing football on Turkey day, I did a few times back in the day. It was always fun to play some tackle football, especially in the snow as we used to when winter rolled around. There you go, let’s get a Madden Bowl and tackle/2 hand touch football tradition going for all the cousins! Thanksgiving is a great holiday leading up to the best time of the year! So much to be thankful for each and every year!
