What did you do on the biggest party night of the year? Yes, I’m talking about that Wednesday night before Thanksgiving. Tell me you know about this night. Yeah, well, I know all about it and I was sleeping by like 10pm.
Yes, it’s my every once in a while, my how things have changed blog. Historically, this would be a night I would not sleep; let me rephrase that. I wouldn’t sleep unless I passed out drunk. Since I was old enough to drink…who am I kidding…years before I was legally allowed to drink, we indulged on this evening before Thanskgiving, seemingly thanking God for our livers. It was a tradition for many, many years.
It started off small enough…just a couple of us, partying by somebody’s house. As we got old enough, we made our way out to the bars and clubs. As we got older, we realized this night was truly amateur night. Kind of like New Year’s Eve, it’s the night people who don’t party, go out and party. That certainly did not describe us. Forget going out on this night; we’d stay in!
One thing that was always part of the festivities, was Madden. Yes, since that very first Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Madden would be played on this night. If it was only a couple of us, back to back to back games. If we were going out, we’d play when we were pre gaming. Then it finally happened: Madden Bowl!

This is the main reason why it is important to discus the use of any of the aforementioned approaches and some others sale viagra as well. With Irving drawing the opposing center or power forward out of the play, Tristan Thompson or Kevin Love often swoop in for an offensive rebound buy sildenafil tablets and uncontested putback. When order cialis on line the blood vessels of the mucous membrane dilate or even break up, the hematuria will appear. Yes, that became our new tradition. Playing an all night Madden football tourney. We’d do a draft, and pick our teams. My favorite Madden team was the Eagles. I loved the threat of McNabb running. Vick was obviously the sickest running QB in this game, but I liked the Eagles D a lot better. It doesn’t matter which team you pick if you keep running the same plays.
One of the earlier tourneys was at the apartment aka party central. I remember hitting up dominicks, loading up on liquior beforehand. I remember starting very early, double fisting like it was open bar. By the time the games began, I was obliterated. Yep, it was me calling the same play over and over again. Thanks to that strategy, I lost to a newbie, and ended up face down in my bed minutes after the brutal loss.
Next year, I came for vengeance. I would ease up on the drinking, or at least balance it a little better. I had my McNabb jersey on, ready to take the Eagles to the promised land. We changed venues for this one; I was matched up with the host first round. I have an awesome story about our first ever game, but that’ll have to wait. I destroyed him. 4 picks I believe, sitting in that cover 2 pinch. Yes, I was the last guy playing at about 7am, while my girlfriend was honking her horn outside. I brought the title home, along with the $20/man total of $320. Not a bad night in the office.
Yes, only scratching the surface with those type of stories; I remember this evening…this night that we’d get together and enjoy. Classic times…seemingly other worldly times. Cheers to the boys and this unforgettable nights.

Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, what great times those were! The Madden Bowl was a yearly staple that grew in size every year. Do not really remember having a favorite team or if I ever won one…maybe that answers my question, but I know I was in the title game a couple years. The sun was already out, and I would be dead tired…drinking and no sleep does that! If I got knocked out early, it was time to party out somewhere…talk about slammed! Either way, these nights were classics that I reflect back on fondly, and yes, they do seem like worlds away. I guess kids and getting old does that, but it would be nice to see if the Madden Bowl can be picked up again by our kids…maybe we would be able to participate and teach them a few things!
