November 18, 2022: Week 11 at Falcons

Here we go again. Another winnable game for our Bears, but I’m here to tell you, it’s not going to happen. Yeah, me, Mr. Positive turning negative? Never that. I’m just keeping it real. I’ll even go as far to say the Bears won’t win another game all season. Why, why would I say that? Because that’s what they WANT to happen and they have stacked hands on this with the referees. Is it just coincidence the Bears have been getting screwed the last couple weeks? I don’t think so. It didn’t take much against the Dolphins, just a PI against us, and a non-PI call against them late. For the Lions, it was a much more intricate plan… early and often. Can you still review penalty calls in the NFL? No, that’s right… they took that right out because it doesn’t play well with Papa Vegas’ plans. Obvious blown call gets reviewed, after replay it is clear as day that it should have been called, and the call is not changed; it was getting too obvious. Let’s throw that subjective call back on the refs and not look back. As long as they follow the script, we’re good. OK, enough about the subtle, and sometimes not-so-subtle, calls that help determine NFL games every week.

The script though, is for the Bears to lose as much as possible, to get the most bang for their buck from their multiple draft picks. Like I mentioned weeks ago, winning too much too early may ruin the final product. Certainly Fields and the offense has been playing well enough to win games, which is what we all really wanted to see, and at the very least keeps us awake during these exciting games, so what do the Bears do? Trade their best defensive player; that’ll help reel this thing back in this year. Yeah, too many wins this year doesn’t play into the long term plan… heck, why stop at “too many wins”… let’s shoot for 0 wins the rest of the season; that’ll rocket us to the top of the draft board. Yeah, that’ll boost this rebuild. OK, it’s settled… now let’s get with the refs and make sure they know our plan; we’re OK with getting screwed. That IS what has been happening; that is not subjective, especially when the refs admit to missing calls after the fact. Easy peasy… what is the purpose of that anyways? Do the refs get dinged? Do the Bears get “points” for some calls to go in our favor when we decide to cash it in? It’s all pretty shady… you just have to be on the right side of it, and it’s clear, the Bears will not be on that side from here on out. And that’s OK… the Bears offense is exciting; Fields is playing great. We’re good, right?

Final Score Prediction: Falcons 35 Bears 27

Ace in the Hole: David Montgomery 2 TDs

The defense will remain shitty, just like we knew it would be once the Bears unloaded Roquan. Hey, nothing against Jack Sanborn; really hope he turns out to be a solid player for us. His pick could have sealed the game last week before the refs said… now wait just a minute! Let’s not get it twisted though; he’s no Roquan. Still, maybe Jack will be a solid starter for us… maybe. We won’t be able to stop the Falcons, which will be the main reason for the loss; I’m sure the refs are hoping they don’t have to step in too much to make this happen, but if they have to, they will. But it’s all good; remember, we’re happy losers. We’ve chosen to flush this season and have turned our attention to next year, more specifically our draft position. The losses never feel good though, but as long as the Bears win one more game this year, I think we’ll be OK. Bear Down!
