November 14, 2023: Ping Pong

Hey, the Bulls won a game on Sunday at home vs the Pistons, ping! Oh, the Bulls lost a game on Monday at Milwaukee vs the Bucks, pong! Ping pong, back and forth, hovering around the 500 mark; this is what we’ve grown accustomed to. Shit, 500 would be great at this point. The Bulls sit out of the playoffs, out of the play in game, just flat out OUT at 4-7 through the first 11 games of the season. Are you not entertained?

I crack up when I read about “scouts closely watching the demise of the Bulls”… Finally, this realization is spreading. It’s over with this group of guys. Yet again, some of us still hinge the success of this group on a PG’s injury… when Lonzo Ball was healthy… if Lonzo Ball was healthy… yes, it did feel like he made that much of an impact, but… he’s not coming back. If and when he ever plays basketball again, IF that would be with us, it’s a whole different ballgame. The team will look a lot different… hopefully.

Zach Lavine open to a trade. Demar Derozan and the Bulls not close on an extension. Vooch upset. I read this stuff, and I just crack up. Actually, maybe I’m just excited… finally, FINALLY somebody will do something about this mess that is the Chicago Bulls. Lavine open to a trade? GREAT! The Bulls not going to extend DD? GREAT! Vooch mad? BYE! The mid 3, the name I’ve assigned to the Bulls top 3 players, should all be on their way out. Where would that leave us? Who cares honestly. Are you OK with finishing anywhere from the 9th best team to the 12th best team in the East? What’s the difference between that and in the 13th- 15th (last) place in the conference? Look, I get it. Each and every win is important. Only 1 out of 30 teams can win it all, so as a die hard, we get our kicks off every victory throughout the 82, and if we’re lucky, some in the postseason. But something has got to give here. If that means sacrificing a few wins THIS year, then so be it. I’m ready.

I give it up to Adam and Stacey every night, even the postgame guys. You know how frustrated they have to be? Some of the stuff Stacey says… for one, the Bulls need to get the ball inside to Vooch… we’ve been saying, he’s been saying for years; that’s far from the only thing. How about “oh, that’s what Patrick Williams should be doing”… or “questioning” Zach’s shot selection… This is getting old; it’s been old. How on earth didn’t we do anything about this in the offseason?

Well, can’t go backwards, but we certainly can do something about it going forward. I know it’s way too early for trade deadline talk, but if there is a deal to be had, something that doesn’t completely rip us off, then let’s do it! And not just one move… we need to rip the band-aid off; it’s over! Let’s get some new blood in here. Let’s reload. Let’s worry about those ping pong balls in the draft lottery. Let’s get this ship heading in the right direction… now!
