November 13, 2023: Draft Watch

posted in: Bears | 0

After the Bears helped themselves on Thursday, defeating the hapless Panthers, it was time to root for other teams to lose, one of my favorites pastimes in the NFL. Nowadays, I’m not only rooting for the Packers to lose, which is in my DNA, but teams that suck… yeah, except I want them to WIN more, more, MORE! I want all of the bad teams in the NFL to get better, except of course the Panthers, and yeah, US! This isn’t turning into a tank fest… no, not at all. I WANT the Bears to win games; I don’t care how that effects our draft pick. Learning how to win, figuring out if Fields is our guy… that’s more important than getting a top 5 pick IMO. Realistically, the Bears aren’t going to run the table, so our pick will still be pretty high, and that’s fine; I’m not rooting for the Bears to lose so our draft pick is higher. I AM rooting for the Panthers to lose, because they have our other first round pick; nothing wrong with that. The Panthers suck, and that is a GREAT thing for us. Let them focus on the losing while we try to win some ball games. At the same time, how about some of the other shitty teams in the NFL? Maybe they can win a game or two…

The Cardinals joined the 2 win club on Sunday. Who would have thought I’d be rooting for Kyler Murray? Yes, although I did have money on the Falcons, I hedged and took the Cardinals ML in game; I also cashed out a parlay (that I rarely play) early before the Falcons screwed me, but that’s not what this is about. It’s about appreciating the Cardinals winning a game, leaving the Panthers, and because of the trade, US, at the top of the draft board all by themselves. Thank you Kyler! Unfortunately, the Giants are on their 3rd QB, and got totally demolished by the Cowboys; we really have to worry about these guys. Then there’s the Patriots… don’t get me wrong, I love seeing them suck, but… would it hurt Belicheat to coach his team up a bit and get a few more Ws? How bad is Mac Jones? You think we have QB problems… Yeah, the Cards, Giants, and Pats all sit with 2 wins for the year. How about that next tier?

The Bears are the start of that next tier of suckage with 3 wins. Honestly, and stop me if you’ve heard this before, think we WILL win some games down the stretch, maybe doubling our win total, inching up towards the next tier of mediocrity… see Chicago Bulls for that definition. The Titans have 3 wins as well; not so worried about them. With their switch at the QB position, I do expect them to get some wins. The Rams, well… you’d think they’d be better; they’re not going to get worse, are they? That leaves only one team on this tier that we have to worry about, and that team my friends, is the Green Bay Packers! Yes, same win total as us… So am I saying I want the Packers to win more games? I, think, I… I… am… having… a short… circuit… NO, hell no! If there is any team that I enjoy seeing lose, it’s the Packers; my God is this fun. This would be the only team that I wouldn’t mind seeing pass up Carolina to be the worst team in the league… go Pack go! Hahaha… they are a fricking mess, and I’m loving every second of this. Now only if we can start winning…

So remember, it’s not tank watch, it’s the draft watch… and by draft watch, I mean, watching the Panthers fail, and in turn, succeed in bringing us the #1 overall pick of the NFL draft 2 years in a row. No, WE are not going to be the worst team in the league, but the Panthers… and then we can thank Poles again for that heist. Come to papa…
