I don’t like to blame the refs; I really don’t. After all, it’s not their fault; there is a bigger power at work here. Papa Vegas of course, and forget what you heard… Papa don’t lose. Am I saying that the NFL is fixed? Well, I am saying that stuff happens for a reason throughout the game; our game this week was a prime example.
Bears were favored by 2.5 points. I’m sure the majority of people betting were on the Bears; I’m sure the majority of the money was on the Bears. Why wouldn’t it be? This is what’s called a sucker line; I hope you didn’t lose money on the game. This was full out hook, line, and sinker. Yet, when the Bears took a 14 point lead, things appeared like they would be fine, but… not so quick. Another bad penalty call against the Bears, one of Fields only bad plays of the game, a missed extra point by Cairo (things that make you go hmm), and a last drive that never got going, added up to another Bears L; this one felt like it was written. Actually, I thought the Bears would win by 2 points and not cover the spread; this time you can’t blame not completing a game winning drive on the WRs… It all stinks pretty much.
The refs were on it early and often though. I’m not saying the Bears didn’t commit any legit penalties, but I will say there were more BS calls than legit ones. 9 penalties for 86 yards… The first one took points off the board for us; a questionable holding call on Braxton Jones lead to a FG instead of a TD. How about the second one? The face mask on Kmet was total trash, just as we were getting close to the red zone; no points on that drive. The refs amped it up on the Lions TD drive that got it within one score. The personal foul call on Gordon… absolute garbage, but maybe not as bad as the one that took a pick out of our hands. The hands to the face call on Jaylon Johnson was a phantom call; he never touched his face. OK, that’s 4 off the top. These bad calls against us seem to be a trend unfortunately, and just like the punt fumbles, the dropped balls, the stupid giveaways, the Bears are not a good enough team to overcome this stuff; this time, it was penalties… a lot of them. They kept the Lions in the game, helped them get close, and the rest was history. Vegas made out like an absolute bandit on this game; facts.
Meanwhile, back in Chicago, we’ll keep being happy about the development of Fields. He had the one bad turnover, and wasn’t able to bring us that game winning drive, but he certainly had another great game. Losing to the Lions though… it was written. We’re not supposed to win this year; the focus is already on the next year(s). We’ve improved our draft position again this Sunday. And mark my words, Fields will not finish the season at QB; they will rest him with some phantom injury. The Bears have already turned the page to next year, and because they’re losing in exciting fashion, and Fields is looking good, we’re OK. Welcome to the 2022 Bears season. Bear Down!
