It was a rough weekend in more ways than one. The one bright spot coming out of the weekend was that I had a 82.5 point lead in my fantasy matchup. Yep, based on the title of this blog, the weekend was capped off the wrong way during the Monday Night Football game.
I write about my fantasy team, almost once a week. In one of my previous posts, I talked about going with my gut regarding who to start and who to sit. Forget those projected point totals. You’ve been doing this long enough. Look at the matchups, and pick the player you think will score the most points. There’s a flip side to that; I am no expert either…
For this week’s matchup, I picked up Dontrelle Inman. The new Bears WR would be making his debut against Green Bay in a game in which I was ALL IN on the Bears to win, and win big. So, going with that line of thinking, I started him… over Stefon Diggs. It looked to be a horrible misstep, until Inman piled on some points late. It ended up only being a small misstep in my blowout victory; I lost a total of 3 points with that decision.
I was up 82.5 points!!! Of course the guy I was playing had Cam and Funchess going on MNF. He sent me a text message early in the day congratulating me on my victory and the fact that I took his playoff spot. I accepted of course; maybe that was part of the problem.
I wasn’t going to watch the game; I did check my phone early on. I think it was the start of the 2nd quarter, and nope… no miracle happening tonight. After reading some books to my son, I passed out along with him; I woke up to a couple text messages…

U lost buddy & U just got “screwed”. I was like, no way… I immediately opened up the fantasy app, and yep, they were right. Unfrickingbelievable.
They combined for a total of 85.1 points. The only time when I felt this bad was when I lost in the fantasy football finals when my QB Romo went down after the 1st series. Yep, with all those points, I ended up losing by 2.5 points. You see, this is where the kicker comes in…
Nobody else knows this but me, but I do. I remember switching out Diggs for Inman. I remember it cost me 3 points. I remember not thinking it was going to matter. Looking at how much I lost by… those measly 2.5 points, I knew… I knew that single move cost me. And that’s what made this improbable comeback even worse.
Yep, now at 4-6, my fantasy football championship dreams are hanging by a thread. I will need to win out, AND will need some help. This week, with all but one of my player’s bye weeks behind them, presents a whole another set of decisions to make… the ones I’ve been so bad at this year. I’ve shot myself in the foot repeatedly; I guess it’s time to blow it off. Here goes nothing…

Another gut shot is right. I could not believe those 2 guys put up 85.1 points to come back and beat you. It was a sick feeling for me, and it was not even my team. My team won easily as I pounded the 1st place donkey. I have now won 3 in a row on my quest to win out and make the playoffs. The small decisions matter, and I hate making the wrong ones. Fortunately, I have been right for 3 straight weeks. Will it continue? It has to for me to have a shot. Maybe we are fighting for that same playoff spot? If so, keep shooting yourself in the foot…hahaha. BEAR DOWN!!!
