Well, that was quick. It was still painful, but at least this 3 week stretch is over, and we can all relax. We can relax with the understanding that this season is over. There is really only one thing that we can ask for here on out, and that’s to beat the Packers… at least once. Lose every other game but those. We get to find out if that wish can be fulfilled next week. Oooh goodie!
The Patriots? Really? They are one of the worst teams in the league, although there are some others pushing for that title. After losing to them, we may not be that far behind; how quick things change. At 4-2 heading into the bye week, I was feeling pretty damn good. 3 straight losses later it’s over, just like that. There is no recovering from this. With all 6 division games, and a date with the Niners and Seahawks… I would tear up my Over 8.5 win total ticket on the Bears this season if it wasn’t a virtual ticket in my DK account. At 4-5, IF we can by some miracle beat the Packers 1x and maybe get the Seahawks, we’re looking at 6-11. My oh my.
We looked pathetic, bottom of the barrel on Sunday at home vs New England. Soldier Field was supposed to be our safe space; there is no safe space any longer. I know the offensive line was suspect when healthy, and with 3 or more guys missing this week… it wasn’t going to be great, but damn… Plus Caleb was missing throws too… he’s probably shell shocked. He’s getting the full Troy Aikman/Peyton Manning welcome to the NFL treatment; those guys made it through. We’ll soon find out who the real Caleb Williams is; give it a couple years. If he can get through this and come out the other side and be great, well, it would all be worth it. If he’s going to be scarred for life because of this experience, then, well… let’s add to the growing list of Bears’ failures. Holding out hope that Caleb can be great (and yes I still do believe that) is really all we have left…. and of course, counting down the days for a new coach, right?
Our new OC looks like every other shitty OC we’ve had in our lifetimes. Our coach looks like too many of the dopes we’re marched out there in the past too. Not too bad in Hard Knocks, but really bad in reality. This Bears season has been flushed down the toilet; I couldn’t even watch the end of the game. I turned it off; I had leaves to get to. The only good thing was that I didn’t flush more money down the drain supporting these bozos, well, maybe just a little… haha. Sitting there watching this horror flick, you just hoped the Bears would snap out of it; you thought, they can’t be this bad… we can’t lose to these F-ers. Yes, yes we are that bad, and yes, we are going to lose to this horrible Patriots team.
What’s next? I don’t want to throw in the towel on the NFL season quite yet. I still do have my season long bets and week to week games that I will be wagering on, but as far as the Bears? Well, I guess we have at least one more week in the season, next week hosting the Packers. Throw us a bone guys; beat the Pack… give us one ray of sunshine; make us feel good for a week. Can you do that?
