Although I’ve been down the last 3 days in my sports wagering, overall, October 2023 was my second best month of the year in terms of profit. Sure, I would have liked it to be better, and to have reached my next milestone by now, but… ahead is ahead. I will take that positivity with me into the new month.
I have an app that actually tracks this stuff for me now; it’s called Juice Reel. Can’t remember how I heard about it, but it’s kind of cool to see how I’ve done across the days, across the different sports. When I signed up, it actually went ahead and loaded all my history, although I’m not sure how accurate that was done… anyways, for any wager placed since that day, it’s spot on. Per this app, I’ve only had 2 losing months out of 8; not too shabby. For October, it was all positive, well, almost all positive. I made money in the MLB, NFL, NHL, and the NBA; only in College Football did I not make money… I broke even. I like how that all looks.
I keep debating if I’m ready to bet more on games or not, and I keep resisting. I want my unit size to have some kind of a correlation to my bankroll size. Obviously, when my bankroll was $3… I was betting $1 or less on games. As my bankroll went up, so did my bet sizes. I read somewhere that your 1 unit should be like 1% of your bankroll… well, I’m betting more than that. I’ve settled in on a card playing term… My unit will be the equivalent to 30 big blinds. Hovering around the $150 mark, my 1 unit is settled in at $5. $180 would be the next milestone in this thinking, when I would bump my unit to $6, etc, etc… Makes sense to me, for now at least. It’s not easy being patient, showing discipline, but funny enough… I was going to raise my units this past Sunday… which would have not went well, considering I’ve been down for 3 straight days since then… Maybe I am making the right decision…
Whatever it is, I guess it’s working; I haven’t lost 1 red cent of my money since I’ve started this journey back in late January; I definitely like the sound of THAT! Sure, I’m not raking in the dough at this point, but I’m building… I like to write about this, because it’s a good reminder of what I’m trying to do… like talking myself through it. I think I can, I think I can… I see people making big money on a single wager or raking it in hitting a big parlay… that’s not me, not yet. I don’t think I’ll ever be a parlay guy, but raking it in on a single wager… one day, one day… of course, there’s the flip side of that, thus, the disciplined unit play strategy that I’m trying to stick with. Like I said, I think I need to read a book about this to get more educated… until then… let’s see what’s on the docket tonight…
